The rising urbanization and industrialization are increasing nitrogen pollution in water wastewaters, calling for advanced remediation treatments. The riparian zone is an important location of nitrogen removal in the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. High dissolved organic nitrate ratio (DOC:NO3-) would promote denitrification, but when NO3- content than 0.06 mg/kg, DNRA occur preference denitrification. Furthermore, abundances functional genes (norB, nirS, nrfA) anammox bacterial 16S rRNA gene similar distribution patterns corresponding rates. Sedimentary NOX-, Fe(II), carbon (DOC) microbial abundance main factors affecting zone. Fe (II) promoted through dependent ferrous under mediation, DOC promotes enhancing effect. study can be management prevention control global pollution.
