Pigeons Post are sophisticated birds with a good memory, navigation skills and an instinct to return the nest after long absence. Over time, has become popular as pet, sport. In Indonesia, championship is legally protected through POMSI (in Bahasa Indonesia: Perkumpulan Olahraga Merpati Pos Seluruh Indonesia), held by local, national communities, this hobby continues grow. As a nondestructive means of environmental monitoring, bird feathers have been used to analyze levels per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in specific environments. In this study, feather samples from 10 waterbird species around Poyang Lake were collected, pretreatment method for PFASs was optimized. The results showed that combined cleaning using ultrapure water n-hexane effectively removed external PFASs. Twenty-three legacy emerging identified the waterbirds, which hexafluoropropylene oxides (HFPOs), chlorinated ether sulfonates (Cl-PFESAs), sodium p-perfluorinated noneoxybenzene sulfonate (OBS) reported first time, with their concentrations ranging 0.060–2.4 ng·g−1 dw, 0.046–30 lower than detection limit 30 respectively. Compound- species-specific bioaccumulation observed different species, suggesting PFAS types can be monitored through selection species. Moreover, most PFCAs (except perfluorobutyric acid), perfluorooctane (PFOS), sulfonamide (FOSA) significantly positively correlated δ15N (p < 0.05), while HFPOs, Cl-PFESAs, OBS had significant positive correlations δ13C. This indicates is affected by trophic level, feeding habits, foraging area.

The Ebro Delta is a wetland of international importance for waterbird conservation but severally affected by intensive agriculture, toxic waste discharges from past chloro-alkali industry and affluence tourism. discharge contaminants associated to these activities pose waterbirds breeding in the at risk. aim this study evaluate exposure 91 emerging legacy micropollutants flamingo chicks (Phoenicopterus roseus), an emblematic species area. Fifty 45–60 days were captured, biometric parameters measured whole blood collected. Compounds analyzed included perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), pharmaceuticals, organophosphate esters (OPEs), in-use pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorine pesticides (OCs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). results indicate multi-exposure flamingo's very young age. PFASs most ubiquitous compounds with ∑PFASs ranging 9.34 576 ng/mL, being PFOA, PFOS PFHxS detected all samples. ∑PAHs ranged 0.19 423 ∑PCBs 0.5 15.6 ng/mL ∑OCs 1.35 37.8 ng/mL. Environmental context Perfluorinated compounds are emerging organic contaminants recently detected in various environmental matrices and remain largely unregulated. Among these matrices, air is the least studied one due to analytical challenges. This review explores trends analysing perfluorinated with use of bioindicators highlights future research needs address existing gaps detection monitoring.
