Incorporating masks into building materials offers a potential solution to the environmental threat of disposable with promising material performance. However, research on their dynamic properties is lacking further determine application range new composite. This study addresses this gap by shredding face strips and incorporating them mortars at varying volume ratios. The integrity compactness mortar was measured characterized P-wave velocity, while compression were explored using split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) system. Subsequently, sieve analysis conducted fractured specimens. results indicate that generally improves fragmentation after impacting. uniaxial strength (DUCS) decreased for all mixing designs compared plain ones under constant loading rate. Meanwhile, dissipated energy density showed similar trend exhibiting less pronounced enhancement higher rates. According characteristics, constitutive model based Lemaitre principle Weibull distribution damage developed validated. test are understood through perspective mechanism mask inclusion.

The decomposition of organic waste going to landfills produces methane gas, which is 21 times worse than CO2 in its global warming potential. Spent coffee grounds (SCG) are one type that makes up a significant proportion the landfills. Therefore, it becomes imperative look for recycling solution transform this into valuable resource. concrete industry has potential contribute significantly increasing rate material. However, due high content, unsuitable be used directly structural concrete. experimental project looks at pyrolysing different temperatures (350 and 500 °C) identify suitability improving physicochemical mechanical properties raw pyrolysed forms SCG were as replacement fine aggregates (FA; sand) 5, 10, 15 20% volume levels. X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Sulfur (CHNS) analysis, laser diffraction particle size (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) compressive strength tests undertaken investigate material their performance blended composites. results show leaching compounds from hinders hydration reaction cement particles, thereby hampering SCG-blended 350 °C led improvement properties, resulted 29.3% enhancement composite with biochar.

The production of concrete is heavily reliant on the continuous mining natural resources, with majority component being aggregates which make up about 70–75% volume. As emphasis shifts towards promoting sustainability through recycling all types waste to create a closed-loop circular economy, it's vital explore alternative materials that can replace traditional raw in production. Biochar derived from different organic has shown improve strength properties concrete. However, research focussed using biochar as cement replacement material very low levels. Therefore, this focuses significantly increasing uptake pyrolysed form (wood biochar) by it fine at levels 10, 20 and 30 vol%. blended showed an improvement 63.9, 45.6% reduction 9.6% 7-day compressive results 30% levels, respectively. At 28 days, samples 20.1, 22.6, 16% Separately, 10% WBC was also cured CO2 environment for 7 days. 24.7 37.3 28-day respective curing compared control mix.

An all-encompassing effort has been performed to utilize waste tire rubber particles for replacing binders and conventional aggregates in concrete, very little work found the current literature on structural lightweight concrete (SLWC) complete replacement of traditional by rubber. Notably, there is no available study addressing microstructure, thermal performance, carbonation resistance SLWC with 100 % coarser content. Therefore, this investigated conductivity, carbonation, X-ray CT scan, extensive microstructural properties novel substitute aggregate first time. Different variables, such as large smaller particles, normal compressed samples, steel fibers, were introduced. Maximum compressive strength 18 MPa a density 2115 kg/m3 satisfied prerequisite prescribed ACI 213R. Non-destructive tests, including electrical resistivity ultra-pulse velocity conducted identify soundness concrete. The properties, i.e., energy dispersive spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, evaluated demonstrate effectiveness casting method. conductivity 0.29 W/m.k indicated excellent insulation performance SLWC, denoted ASTM C332. Carbonation was also considerably improved. results show that potential both non-structural applications.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, using large amounts of personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout world has extensively increased in recent years. The lack a practical method dispose these recycled materials is one main concerns researchers. Hence, comprehensive experimental tests were conducted present study investigate feasibility disposable gloves mortars achieve sustainable mixture. Accordingly, latex and vinyl as fibers considered program improve sustainability 3D printing concrete. As causes some deficiencies for layers, different mineral chemical admixtures used study, including graphene oxide nanomaterials, polyvinyl alcohol, Cloisite 15A nanoclay, micro silica fume. Also, hybrid use latex, vinyl, polypropylene (PP) fiber was printability concrete mixtures containing waste fibers. Moreover, effect internal reinforcement also by plain steel wire mesh increase composite behavior printed layers this simplified program. Results indicate that synergic influence meaningfully enhanced properties mortar so about 20%, 80%, 50%, more than 100% improvements obtained workability, direct tensile strength, flexural buildability index respectively. However, an average percentage - 28.3% reduction recorded compressive strength. Sustainability analysis showed considerably reduced CO2 emissions.

Single-use isolation gowns have become an important practice across medical centres, testing sites, and emergency rooms since the onset of Coronavirus pandemic; within later months 2019. Although reusable proved beneficial, 80% frontline centres opt for disposable gowns, increasing demand plastic-based personal protective equipment (PPE) environmental strain from excess waste in landfills. This research aims to explore practicability using structural concrete scale back quantity pandemic-generated ending up The shredded were added aggregates at 0.01%, 0.02%, 0.03% volume concrete. effects various concentrations on mechanical properties investigated through a series experiments alongside SEM-EDS analysis. Results demonstrate enhanced bridging effect between cement matrix allowing steady trend improved with increases 15.5%, 20.6%, 11.73% compressive strength, flexural modulus elasticity, respectively.
