Urban happiness prediction presents a complex challenge, due to the nonlinear and multifaceted relationships among socio-economic, environmental, infrastructural factors. This study introduces an advanced hybrid model combining gradient boosting machine (GBM) neural network (NN) address these complexities. Unlike traditional approaches, this leverages GBM handle structured data features NN extract deeper relationships. The was evaluated against various baseline learning deep models, including random forest, CNN, LSTM, CatBoost, TabNet, using metrics such as RMSE, MAE, R2, MAPE. + achieved superior performance, with lowest RMSE of 0.3332, R2 0.9673, MAPE 7.0082%. also revealed significant insights into urban indicators, 10% improvement in air quality correlating 5% increase happiness. These findings underscore potential models analytics, offering both predictive accuracy actionable for planners.

This research provides new evidence on factors associated with the use of four different shared mobility options – bike-sharing, e-scooter sharing, car-sharing, and ridehailing (Uber) in same urban region. Factors examined are sociodemographic characteristics, concern about climate change, access to a private car, built environment characteristics users' residential locations. The analyses based survey GIS-measured, individual-level geospatial data from Oslo its surrounding Viken county Norway. Findings suggest that bike-sharing users more likely be younger, men, single, concerned living denser neighborhoods good public transport. E-scooter sharing without disabilities, less educated, live neighborhoods. Car-sharing partner or spouse children, not have transit-oriented Uber younger higher incomes, worried proximity city center. These outcomes offer input for critical issues transport planning including compact form, sustainable mobility, equity.

This paper presents new evidence on changes in a broad range of teleactivities due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and investigates how built environment relates these changes. The relies survey geospatial data from Oslo its surrounding Viken region Norway. Findings suggest that most increased COVID-19. Telework, teleconferencing, online learning, telehealth, virtual meetings with friends family all during COVID-19 compared pre-COVID-19 period. next step analysis examined relationships between characteristics before Telework greater extent denser neighborhoods than lower-density neighborhoods. A larger increase learning was associated lower neighborhood density, accessibility public transport, more local facilities. Numerous facilities were frequent telework both substantial COVID-19-induced found study highlights potential information communications technology (ICT) for replacing travel various activities.

COVID-19, the most wide-spread and disruptive pandemic in over a century, enforced emergency urban design responses meaning to recalibrate transport provision globally. This is first work that systematically evaluates 'public acceptance' as proxy for 'policy success' 'potential longer-term viability' of high-profile sustainable intervention package introduced 2020 capital city Greece known Great Walk Athens (GWA). achieved through twin statistical analysis an e-survey looked into attitudes mobility experiences Athenians accessing area trial daily. The research enabled comparison between pre- post-implementation traffic situations provided details about specific measures packaged GWA project. Our results suggest walking cycling uptake were only marginally improved. Traffic delays car users considerable. Car usage declined somewhat, with exception ride-sharing. Public ridership numbers suffered lot because concerns sharing closed space many others during pandemic. Men people on low income more likely agree 'change'. Naturally this was case identified primarily cyclists pedestrians. impactful elements terms lane sacrifices (i.e., redevelopment Panepistimiou Street) had lowest acceptability rates. This study investigates how the use of sustainable transport modes relates to travel satisfaction (general evaluation travel) and affect (emotions during in car-dependent compact cities. Thereby, provides evidence on mobility travel-related well-being a context urban form but inadequate provisions for public transport, walking, cycling. A mixed-methods approach was applied comprising quantitative qualitative analyses data from two major cities Greece, i.e., Athens Thessaloniki. Travel are found be highest those who walk commuting, independently time other factors. Conversely, lowest users, largely due very long times also poor services one Results indicate that experience traveling by car, motorcycle within areas greatly depends provision policies. Overall, findings support idea shift pleasant, satisfying, cities, car restrictions should accompanied massive improvements high-quality walking cycling infrastructure, an integrated coordination different modes.

Abstract Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, speculations on decline of major cities have surged, with studies noting temporary population decreases across various worldwide. However, research scarcely addresses pandemic’s enduring influence perceptions city living. Rather than exploring mid- to long-term impacts, current literature focuses mainly comparing changes in residential preferences during and before pandemic. To fill this gap, we conducted a randomized conjoint experiment scrutinize altered attitudes toward residing Tokyo Metropolis due Scenarios encompassed reminders potential pandemic re-occurrence teleworking options. Despite variations depending scenarios socio-demographic characteristics survey participants, overall, results show that surge remote working did not diminish allure Tokyo, implying low probability an urban decline. These outcomes advocate for compact development bolster resilience against forthcoming stressors like climate change.
