The usage of face masks in various sectors healthcare facilities dates back to years ago. However, the utilization facial coverings experienced a rapid surge as result escalating rate COVID-19 infections witnessed across entire globe. This culminated an unparalleled inundation disposed within surrounding ecosystem. transforms mask from potent protectant into massive emerging solid plastic waste pollutant with long-term adverse effects on environment and human health. worldwide scale escalated immensely significant 129 billion per month at onset pandemic. Nanomaterial-based technologies have been integrated manufacturing chains increase performance provide antiviral characteristics. Nanotechnology encompasses multidisciplinary aspects including artificial intelligence, chemistry, biology, material science, physical medicine. Abridgment this review aims make discarded sustainable solution many environmental pollution. In addition, it culminates collaborative well-conducted trials, done for generating greener solutions intention that environment-friendly manner. SUMMARYThis narrative review and meta-analysis summarizes a broad evidence base on the benefits-and also practicalities, disbenefits, harms personal, sociocultural environmental impacts-of masks masking. Our synthesis of from over 100 published reviews selected primary studies, including re-analyzing contested meta-analyses key clinical trials, produced seven findings. First, there is strong consistent for airborne transmission severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) other pathogens. Second, are, if correctly consistently worn, effective in reducing diseases show dose-response effect. Third, respirators are significantly more than medical or cloth masks. Fourth, mask mandates overall, community Fifth, important symbols; non-adherence to masking sometimes linked political ideological beliefs widely circulated mis- disinformation. Sixth, while much that not generally harmful general population, may be relatively contraindicated individuals with certain conditions, who require exemption. Furthermore, groups (notably D/deaf people) disadvantaged when others masked. Finally, risks environment single-use respirators. We propose an agenda future research, improved characterization situations which should recommended mandated; attention comfort acceptability; generalized disability-focused communication support settings where worn; development testing novel materials designs filtration, breathability, impact.

The production and consumption of disposable face masks (DFMs) increased intensely during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a high amount them being found in terrestrial aquatic environment. main goal this research study is conduct comparative evaluation water-leachability microplastics (MPs) chemical additives from various types surgical/medical (MM DFMs) filtering pieces (FFPs). Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy was used for MPs analysis. Liquid Chromatography/High Resolution Mass Spectrometry analyse analytes presented water-leachates DFMs. FFPs released 3-4 times more microplastic particles compared MM release into water all tested DFMs without mechanical stress suggests potential MP contamination originating DFM process. Our first time identified bisphenol B (0.25-0.42 μg/L) 1,4-bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (163.9-115.0 as leachables vary size, with predominant <100 μm, order MMIIR > MMII FFP3>FFP2>MMI. type leachates investigated polypropylene, accounting 93-97% 82-83% FFPs. Other polymers such polyethylene, polycarbonate, polyester/polyethylene terephthalate, polyamide/Nylon, polyvinylchloride, ethylene-propylene copolymer were also identified, but smaller amounts. wider variety higher percentage (17-18%) other (3-7%). Fragments fibres water-leachate samples, fragments, particularly debris polypropylene fibres, most common morphotype. findings are important contributing additional data develop science-based policy recommendations on health environmental impacts associated originated

Water resource health is one of the necessary conditions for society to achieve sustainable development. Due predominant focus most studies on relatively short time spans, with limited attention long series and spatial trends, this study, using various regions Henan Province as a case constructs water security assessment framework based DPSIR model encompassing Drivers (D), Pressures (P), State (S), Impact (I), Response (R) dimensions, selection 19 evaluation indicators. Based index system, CRITIC-TOPSIS method formulated by integrating CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) TOPSIS (Technique Order Preference Similarity Ideal Solution) models. This employed assess degree in from 2013 2022. And Obstruction Degree Model introduced diagnose levels Province. The results indicate that over past decade, overall level has shown an increasing trend. Irrigated area, per capita resources, consumption unit industrial value added, acre agricultural irrigation, ratio river length meeting quality standards, groundwater supply proportion, sewage treatment rate are identified primary obstacles influencing different research outcomes study can serve theoretical foundations enhance urban globally, ultimately facilitating
