After the Industrial Revolution, ever-increasing atmospheric CO2 concentration has resulted in significant problems for human beings. Nearly all countries world are actively taking measures to fight carbon neutrality. In recent years, negative emission technologies have attracted much attention due their ability reduce or recycle excess atmosphere. This review summarizes state-of-the-art technologies, from artificial enhancement of natural sink technology physical, chemical, biological methods capture, as well utilization and conversion. Finally, we expound on challenges outlook improving accelerate pace achieving

The livestock industry accounts for a considerable proportion of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, and in response, the Australian red meat has committed to an aspirational target net-zero emissions by 2030. Increasing soil carbon storage grazing lands been identified as one method help achieve this, while also potentially improving production provision other ecosystem services. This review examined effects management on factors that drive sequestration Australia. A systematic literature search meta-analysis was used compare stocking intensity (stocking rate or utilisation) (i.e, continuous, rotational seasonal systems) organic carbon, pasture herbage mass, plant growth ground cover. Impacts below biomass, nitrogen structure are discussed. Overall, no significant impact Australia found, although lower incorporating periods rest into systems (rotational grazing) had positive mass cover compared with higher continuous grazing. Minimal below-ground biomass reported However, these improved some circumstances. While there is lack evidence directly increases this indicated practices have potential benefit drivers increasing above production, maintaining residual promoting productive perennial species. Specific recommendations future research provided paper.

Carbon sequestration is defined as the process of capturing and storing atmospheric carbon dioxide. Fruit crops are indispensable both for climate change mitigation ensuring food security. However, impact fruit trees not adequately investigated. This review assesses potential their implications mitigation. use photosynthesis to absorb CO2 from atmosphere assimilate it into cellulose, lowering buildup. Micro-/nanoplastic contamination in agricultural soils raises concerns on agroecosystems and poses potential health risks. Some of have received significant amounts micro-/nanoplastics (MNPs) through plastic mulch film biosolid applications. However, a comprehensive understanding the MNP impacts plants remains elusive. The interaction between soil particles MNPs is an extremely complex issue due to different properties heterogeneity diverse characteristics MNPs. Moreover, are class relatively new anthropogenic pollutants that may negatively affect food. Herein, we presented review growth plants. We also discussed strategies for mitigating or eliminating contamination. perspectives future research highlighted.

The sustainable management of urban landscapes, and the ecosystem services they provide, are driven in part by health microbial diversity soil. Most research on soil has focused agricultural lands used for food production, but creating more climate resilient cities will rely improving our understanding landscapes such as turfgrass. This study assessed major parameters three turfgrass with varying degrees intensity, an unmanaged prairie, site from metropolitan areas Midwestern United States. Bacterial fungal β-diversity were significantly affected location, land use, age interaction between use location explaining most variance (25 % bacteria 14 fungi). Deviations α-diversity reflected difference management, prairie locations having consistently greater than that managed turfgrasses sites. relative abundance beneficial fungi Glomeromycetes was lawn any other uses; however, this biased a high single relatively low phosphorus content (2.8 mg/kg). community composition correlated P, Fe, C content, pH, organic matter, sand clay overall rating. majority these positively each along process indicators including respiration rate, active carbon, protein content. These microbiome assembly constitute potential driving factors many crucial processes drive can be to create landscapes.

Abstract Microbiomes are foundational components of the environment that provide essential services relating to food security, carbon sequestration, human health, and overall well-being ecosystems. Microbiota exert their effects primarily through complex interactions at interfaces with plant, animal, hosts, as well within soil environment. This review aims explore ecological, evolutionary, molecular processes governing establishment function microbiome–host relationships, specifically critical One Health—a transdisciplinary framework recognizes health outcomes people, animals, plants, tightly interconnected. Within context Health, core principles underpinning microbiome assembly will be discussed in detail, including biofilm formation, microbial recruitment strategies, mechanisms attachment, community succession, effect these have on host health. Finally, this catalogue recent advances microbiology ecology methods can used profile interfaces, particular attention multi-omic, advanced imaging, modelling approaches. These technologies for delineating general specific functions, mapping interconnectivity across varying spatial temporal scales, predictive frameworks guide development targeted microbiome-interventions deliver Health outcomes.
