As a burgeoning pollutant, microplastics (MPs) has elicited global concern. However, ecological effects and mechanisms of MPs on plant-soil system are still poorly understood. In the present study, impacts polyvinyl chloride (PVC-MPs) maize (Zea mays L.) seedlings growth physiological traits soil properties were discussed through 30-day pot experiment. Results showed that PVC-MPs had greater toxicity effect shoot biomass than root biomass. To defense impact PVC-MPs, superoxide dismutase catalase activities in leaf stimulated. Moreover, adhesion particles increased, microorganism, enzymes, nutrients altered significantly with increasing content PVC-MPs. Notably, nitrate nitrogen decreased whereas ammonium was promoted under lower contents (0.1% 1%) Redundancy analysis indicated can explain 87.4% 7.7% variation traits, respectively.
