review
explores

indicators
in
evaluating

their

challenges

application.
A

is
high
sensitivity

response
to
environmental
changes.
These
can
be
grouped
into
three
categories:
microbial
biomass
abundance,
taxonomic
composition

activity.

are
considered
most
reliable
interpretable
indicators.

limited
diagnostic
predictive
capabilities
