The existence of odors in drainage pipelines is one the most prominent environmental problems that urban residents complain about nowadays. Odorous substances sewage can cause corrosion and erosion pipelines, even lead to great harm human body environments. Ideas for situ odor control be divided into two main categories: elimination odorous inhibition production substances. However, there a lack comprehensive summary overall deodorization techniques, which has limited wide application these methods. We conducted systematic review summarize recent advances deodorization. Firstly, their basic characteristics are concluded. Special attention been paid volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) nitrogen-containing compounds, as Subsequently, typical sources summarized based on formation mechanisms. Then, techniques (including pipeline condition optimization source chemical biological techniques) introduced. Finally, upcoming research efforts mechanism improvement, gap supplementation, economic efficiency enhancement meet practical conditions proposed.
