Climate change and intensive anthropogenic activities have severely challenged the water quality of China’s Pearl River Estuary (PRE). Further investigations into long-term variation associated driving mechanisms are therefore necessary to support sustainable development PRE’s Greater Bay Area (GBA). This study used remote sensing retrieval address spatiotemporal chlorophyll- a (Chl- ) characteristics in PRE relationship between Chl -a concentrations socioeconomic/environmental indicators. ABSTRACT Urbanization, driven by population growth, alters watershed hydrology and nutrient runoff. However, the complex interplay between urbanization nutrients in regional watersheds remains an open question. This study assessed how affects streamflow, total nitrogen (TN), phosphorus (TP) loads six diverse Florida covering area of 10,600 km 2 . was carried out introducing 2070 land use/land cover (LULC) projections to a hydrology/water quality model. We investigated different levels urban density, as proxy for patterns, affect streamflow variability. Results indicate that could increase from 14% 27% 2070. expansion lead monthly increases 0%–36%, based on patterns. Future TP change −8% +140%, with decreases attributed LULC transitions high‐use fertilizer agriculture low/medium density residential classes. Projected TN are more consistent, simulated changes −1% +26%. Best management practices (BMPs) are widely applied to address water quality degradation issues attributed non-point source pollutants. The objective of this study was assess the efficiency two types BMPs, vegetation filter strips (VFS) and wetlands, in reducing total nitrogen (TN) phosphorus (TP) a watershed, investigate whether BMPs is maintained under future climate scenarios by employing Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). A set parameters calibrated using SWAT Calibration Uncertainty Program (SWAT-CUP) ensure acceptable simulation results. Three BMP were developed applying VFS wetlands individually combination. Projected data from 18 global circulation models Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0, SSP5-8.5) used depict change conditions. demonstrated 18.2% 22.9% greater reduction for TN TP, respectively, relative wetlands. When simultaneously applied, even than that single-BMP implementation (by 7.4% 6.8% TP compared alone 25.5% 29.7% alone).
