In Canada, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions continue to remain high despite the federal government's commitment reduce GHG emissions. Environmental policy across Canadian provinces has largely lacked consistency with some implementing targeted such as carbon taxes while others have strongly resisted attempts encourage policy. This study examines impact of environmental on uniquely measured by public and business sector spending protection well notable province-specific policies. An extended STIRPAT model is specified inclusion proxies for using panel data from Canada's ten 1995 2019. The cointegration error correction modelling approaches are employed estimate non-stationary data. A pooled mean group estimation applied provide short run long coefficients. findings indicate that although per capita GDP main driver in a significant mitigating effect, shown negative association between private run. Furthermore, policies, Ontario's coal phase-out British Columbia's tax, experienced reductions. theoretical implication successful addition variables model, providing new application future research.

Under the pressures of environmental pollution and overcapacity, regulation is adopted by Chinese government to reduce excess capacity China's manufacturing industry. Sector-level empirical research on impact overcapacity necessary since both them are highly variable among different sectors. Based panel data from 2001 2010, utilization its two factors, namely technical efficiency equipment utilization, 28 sectors in China have been calculated using envelopment analysis (DEA). The results tests indicate that has a significant rather than efficiency, leading an overall negative effect utilization. In addition, shows sector heterogeneity when classified according degree or pollution. To be specific, not effective means reducing mild-pollution severe-overcapacity Capacity moderate- severe-pollution can increased combining other policies stimulate innovation. Excess mild- moderate-overcapacity reduced regulation; meanwhile, policy guidance promoting innovation should also provided mild-overcapacity Therefore, it crucial formulate differentiated maintain reasonable range intensity process regulation.
