Microplastic occurrence in the aquatic ecosystem has become of great concern worldwide because its persistence, durability, and toxicity. Microplastics are found ubiquitous freshwater environments, including rivers. Thus, our study assesses microplastic pollution water, sediment, fish Kahayan River, Indonesia. We first evaluated microplastics' occurrence, abundance, characteristics Central Kalimantan, The average abundance water was 2.92 ± 2.62 items/L, while sediment 6.93 3.15 items/Kg dry weight. 53 out 90 (58.89%) had microplastics their digestive tracts with an 2.03 3.416 items/Ind. predominant were fragment fibre size 150-<300 µm. present tract have similar dominant fibre. In terms size, sediments dominated by µm, 1000–5000 500-<1000 µm respectively different order proportions. infrared spectroscopic analysis confirmed most common polymer type to be polyvinyl chloride polyethylene fish. Our provides current status contamination for further evaluation management
