Little research exists on the magnitude, variability, and uncertainty of human exposure to airborne micro- nanoplastics (AMNPs), despite their critical role in MNPs. We probabilistically estimate global intake AMNPs through three main pathways: indoor inhalation, outdoor ingestion during meals, for both children adults. The median inhalation AMPs is 1,207.7 (90% CI, 42.5–8.48 × 104) 1,354.7 47.4–9.55 N/capita/day adults, respectively. annual 13.18 mg/capita/a 19.10 which approximately one-fifth one-third mass a standard stamp, assuming consistent daily medians. majority AMP number occurs while deposited meals contributes most terms mass. Furthermore, ANP 9,638.1 N/day (8.23 10–6 μg/d) 5,410.6 (4.62 respectively, compared 5.30 105 (5.79 10–4 6.00 (6.55 via inhalation. Considering increased toxicity smaller MNPs, significant ANPs inhaled warrants great attention. Collaborative efforts are imperative further elucidate combat current MPN risks.

Microplastics are ubiquitously in various environments from the equator to poles. Coastal agglomerations act as both a source and sink connecting global microplastic cycles of oceans continents. While problem microplastics is particularly severe complex coastal zones, where inland marine pollution concentrated, present study aimed provide hot topics trends urban studies review researches on atmosphere water bodies terms characteristics, behavior, health threat microplastics. The results bibliometric analysis showed an increase annual output research. Research clusters were analyzed using VOSviewer. Characteristics varied abundance, size, polymer type different countries. Furthermore, cities taken system sort out input, output, internal transmission pathways residents was briefly reviewed exposure risks infants young children particular concern. Detailed comprehensive intervention reduction between bodies, whether harmful children, measures reduce risk needed.

Airborne microplastics have emerged in recent years as ubiquitous atmospheric pollutants. However, data from the Southern Hemisphere, and remote regions particular, are sparse. Here, we report airborne microplastic deposition fluxes measured during a five-week sampling campaign at site foothills of Alps New Zealand. Samples were collected over 24-hour periods for first week 7-day thereafter. On average, (MP) six times larger (150 MP m−2 day−1) than (26 day−1), highlighting importance frequency collector design to limit particle resuspension. Previous studies, many which used weekly frequencies or longer, may substantially underestimated fluxes, depending on study design. To identify likely sources deposited microplastics, performed simulations with global dispersion model coupled an emissions inventory microplastics. Modelled good agreement observations, potential this method tracing globally. Modelling indicates that sea-spray was dominant source when underwent long-range transport, small contribution road dust.

Owing to their low cost, high plasticity, and corrosion resistance, plastic products are widely used across various industries. However, these can break down into microplastics (MPs) through several processes, including natural weathering, mechanical wear tear, industrial activities, such as fine powder production, other human-induced processes. MPs contaminate the environment pose a significant threat human health safety. Additionally, be horizontally vertically distributed within soil environment. interact with cadmium (Cd) in Cd-contaminated soils, thereby forming co-exposed stress risks. Considering widespread distribution of Cd soil, this article reviews interactions ecological effects combined literature visualization analysis. The systematic review shows that MP–Cd pollution significantly alter physico-chemical properties thus influencing individual contaminants (Cd or MPs) modifying microbial community. migration contribute oxidative on animals plants, potential implications for aboveground food chain. This paper aims identify future research directions priorities addressing provide scientific guidance remediation management MP-Cd joint exposure site environments.
