To estimate the connectivity of a road network, it is crucial to evaluate correlation hazard intensities among individual bridge locations since probability multiple bridges being damaged simultaneously depends on degree this correlation. However, research assessment networks considering spatial correlations associated with flood scarce in literature. When quantifying intensities, modeling based stream distance rather than Euclidean required, taking into account that river flow restricted only within network. achieve purpose, novel methodology proposed network geostatistical linear model and covariance models. In addition, study considers seismic intensity. With method, possible identify which play an important role ensuring under hazards, i.e. seismic. As illustrative example, method applied hypothetical Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The results demonstrate improved can be achieved by implementing relevant retrofitting strategy for bridges.

The promotion of active travel is deemed a crucial component the transition to sustainable urban mobility. Several barriers hinder its policy implementation and uptake. Some evidence suggests that capacity building could be useful tool for deepening sustainability efforts. This concept involves development deployment skills resources. However, clear framework understanding dimensions lacking. Furthermore, most research findings use cases within Global North context, constricting implications transferability South, especially African cities. study responds dearth scholarly work exploring South fills knowledge gap regarding in case travel. Through literature review, we examined are necessary improve selected countries. We focus on multilevel transportation governance with highlights from five Our suggest policies transport Africa have key but lack introduction instruments strategic pathways meet these requirements improved propose thematic guiding delineates application at three levels governance. helps integrate institutional, individual, environmental levels.
