Widespread use of pesticides globally has led to serious concerns about environmental contamination, particularly with regard aquatic and soil ecosystems. This work involved investigating concentrations 64 in surface-water samples collected four provinces along the Mekong River Cambodia during dry rainy seasons (276 total), conducting semi-structured interviews local farmers pesticide use. Furthermore, an ecological risk assessment detected was performed. In total, 56 were surface water 43 soil, individual reaching maximum 1300 ng/L (tebufenozide) 1100 ng/g weight (bromophos-ethyl). The made it quite evident that instructions are provided regarding rudimentary, overuse is common. perceived effect seen as end-point, there a limited process optimally matching pests crops. Several used regularly on same crop, period between application harvest varied. Risk analysis showed bromophos-ethyl, dichlorvos, iprobenfos presented very high organisms both seasons, quotient values 850 for 67 season 78 49 16 dichlorvos. Overall, this highlights occurrence residues Cambodia, emphasizes urgent need monitoring improving practices regulations region.

Mulching with plastic sheeting, the use of carriers in seed coatings, and irrigation wastewater or contaminated surface water have resulted plastics, microplastics, becoming ubiquitous agricultural soils. Once environment, surfaces quickly become colonised by microbial biofilm comprised a diverse community. This so-called 'plastisphere' community can also include human pathogens, particularly if has been exposed to faecal contamination (e.g., from organic manures livestock faeces). The plastisphere is hypothesised facilitate survival dissemination therefore plastics systems could play significant role transferring pathogens crops, as microplastics adhering ready eat crops are difficult remove washing. In this paper we critically discuss pathways for associated interact crop leaves roots, potential transfer, adherence, uptake plants. Globally, concentration soils increasing, therefore, quantifying transfer into food chain needs be treated priority.

This study assessed the physical, chemical, and microbiological quality with emphasis on risk score, source apportionment, geochemistry, feacal coliforms water index of drinking from selected sources. A cross-sectional was conducted in six villages Mbarara city, south-western Uganda. Each inspected using a WHO-adopted sanitary inspection questionnaire. source’s score calculated. Thirty-seven samples were taken one borehole, nine open dug wells, four rain harvest tanks, twenty-three taps. The values for apparent color phosphate higher than permissible level as set by World Health Organization Ugandan standards (US EAS 12). isolated organisms Klebsiella spp . (8.11%), Citrobacter divergens (62.16%), fluendii (2.7%), E coli (35.14%), Enterobacter aerogenes agglomerus (5.4%), Proteus cloacae (13.5%), mirabilis (2.7%). Twelve sources (32.4%) had that unfit human consumption (Grade E), Five (13.5%) very poor D), (24.3%) C), eight (21.6%) good B), only three (8.1%) excellent A). piper trilinear revealed dominant type area Mgso 4 Caso type. Water pollution poses a serious threat, adversely affecting ecosystems and human health. Addressing this issue is essential to preserve water quality protect vital resources. Implementing effective solutions key safeguarding ecosystems, promoting public health, ensuring sustainable access clean for both present future generations. The growing global concern over the contamination of natural resources, particularly freshwater, has heightened demand treatment methods. There interest in using renewable eco-friendly reactive materials support environmental sustainability combat harmful contaminants. Among various options, nanocellulose stands out as promising candidate remediation due its remarkable physicochemical properties. This chapter explores intrinsic characteristics structural features different types nanocellulose, including cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs), nanofibers (CNFs), bacterial (BNCs). It been extensively studied an excellent biomaterial wastewater outstanding properties antifouling behavior, thermal resistance, large specific surface area, superior mechanical strength, high aspect ratio, biodegradability, biocompatibility. Its extensive area rich free hydroxyl groups, which are easily modified functionalized. also highlights recent advancements applications, heavy metal removal, oily separation, dye extraction, showcasing potential adsorbent improving filtration performance.

Abstract The growing worldwide environmental and water pollution challenges require the use of renewable biomass-based materials to purify systems. remarkable qualities nanocellulose (NC) its eco-friendliness make it a desirable material for this purpose. Hence, many investigations have been conducted on optimization NC-based purification. This review presents first examination progress made in creating emerging NC composites using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), metal organic frameworks (MOFs), aluminosilicates. MIPs, MOFs, aluminosilicates endow with stability, multifunctionality, extended reusability. applications these wastewater treatment, such as removal toxic heavy metals, dyes, pharmaceuticals, microorganisms are discussed. Finally, economic viability, challenges, future perspectives their research gaps demonstrated will enable exploration new areas study functionalised composites, leading enhanced industrial applications. Moreover, utilisation suitably modified components results multifunctional adsorbents that great potential effectively eliminating contaminants simultaneously.
