ABSTRACT Geographic heterogeneity, encompassing both species‐environment interactions and interspecific relationships, significantly influences the ecological attributes of wildlife habitat selection population distribution. However, impact geographic heterogeneity on distribution target species within predator–prey systems, particularly in human‐dominated landscapes, remains unclear. By conducting line transect surveys, utilizing a monitoring network, applying logistic geographically weighted regression (GWR) conjunction with generalized linear models (GLM), we examined spatial by Amur tiger, leopard, their main ungulate prey, wild boar roe deer, Northeast China. Our results suggest that factors affecting predators are more complex than those for prey. More significantly, coefficients deer certain serve as crucial explanatory variables tiger leopard models. findings emphasize importance non‐stationarity selections, heterogeneous prey may drive dispersals large felids across road landscapes. This study offers new insights into how to help apex cross barriers effectively managing landscape dominated roads, providing valuable guidance future conservation policies.

Global ecosystems, particularly in biodiversity-rich tropical rainforests, are increasingly under pressure from human activities. As socio-economic development continues and populations steadily grow, the effective planning of areas surrounding national parks has become a global challenge. This study, based on remote sensing data utilizing landscape ecology tools, such as ArcGIS 10.8, GeoDa 1.20, Fragstats 4.2, combines spatial statistical methods, trend analysis, Hurst index to conduct long-term analysis forecast future trends vegetation ecological quality indicators (VEQI) pattern changes within around Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park. VEQI across various buffer zones were also assessed. Our results show that both arable built-up land increased, especially 2002 2022. Arable decreased 5566.8 km2 4796.8 km2, then increased 5904.6 km2; expanded 163.97 314.59 reflecting urbanization. Spatiotemporal revealed 42.54% study area experienced significant changes, with 24.05% increase (mainly northwest) an 18.49% decrease southeast). The improvements consistent all zones, most growth 7.5 km zone. Landscape indices indicated high fragmentation coastal areas, while inland remained stable, tension between conservation These findings provide theoretical basis for zone policies park.

Maintaining a supply–demand balance of ecosystem services (ES) is essential for enhancing the effectiveness restoration. However, inappropriate land use and reforestation practices can negatively impact this balance. In study, ES Saihanba region in China was quantified by integrating use/cover change (LUCC) data, landscape metrics, indicators. The relationship between its driving factors analyzed using spatial panel models. spatiotemporal changes patterns from 2002 to 2020 were also explored. results indicated that overall supply capacity study region, especially southwestern area, increased during research period. determining exhibited significant heterogeneity spillover effects. Large–scale afforestation local provided economic benefits, but it led ecological issues, including declines wetland area fragmentation. Our emphasized importance considering planning decision–making ES, providing insight into multifunctional management sustainable development area.

Differences in land use and landscape patterns have become crucial factors affecting regional water quality. In order to investigate the effects of different on quality, this study used dissolved oxygen (DO), ammonia nitrogen (NH4+-N), potassium permanganate index (CODMn) from 147 conventional quality monitoring stations Pearl River basin China January December 2021 as representative parameters. The quantitative relationship between use, pattern, was investigated using geographic information system technology (GIS) partial least squares (PLS). results showed that overall relatively positive mainly threatened by organic pollution. affected spatial characteristics showing a poorer pattern eastern western ends better one central part basin. developed PLS regression model could explain concluding unused urban has greatest impact with an coefficient more than 0.10. interspersion juxtaposition (IJI) for representing had indicators, −0.15 DO, 0.13 NH4+-N, 0.15 CODMn, respectively. Comprehensively and objectively revealing the spatial relationship between ecosystem services (ESs) human activity intensity (HAI) is vital for achieving sustainable development goals. However, existing studies still have an incomplete understanding of how ESs change with HAI gradients. Therefore, taking Shenzhen City, China, as example region experiencing rapid urbanization, distribution in 2010 2020 were quantified using InVEST model footprint index method; at same time, gradient perspective was introduced temporal correlation characteristics along 10 bands, from weak to strong, captured by applying multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR) bivariate autocorrelation model. The findings showed that (1) demonstrated increasing trend (20.63 (2010) 23.36 (2020)), area high values (the 10th band) distributed western part study area; meanwhile, low 1st more eastern area. (2) On whole, average levels water conservation, soil carbon storage, habitat quality decreased 2020; these parameters similar. (3) In general, negatively correlated HAI, negative ratio than 65%. At correlations ES patterns under different bands significant. These can effectively alleviate pressure on caused activities, which great significance highly urbanized regions.

The interaction of human activity in national parks and their surrounding areas with natural landscapes is an important factor the formulation strategies for protection management protected areas. From integrated ecological social perspective, this study aims to develop a human–land coupling model reveal threats activities park under rapid urbanization. We first established four-quadrant based on relationship between intensity (HAI) landscape pattern index (LPI). On basis, we analyzed spatial characteristics these indices from 2000 2020, preliminarily assessed Lushan National Park its (LNPSA), then explored driving factors relationship. results show following. (1) proportion regions high extremely increased 6.02% 16.41% over past two decades. These are mainly distributed surroundings Park, showing gradually spreading trend core area. (2) had higher fragmentation, diversity, total variation compared (3) Vegetation coverage distance have most significant effect LNPSA, evolution together shape (4) Utilizing administrative divisions as fundamental framework, area delineated into four distinct zones analysis—harmonious development zones, stable transformation environmental regulation risk prevention zones—with tailored optimization proposed each zone’s characteristics. findings can facilitate optimized schemes different provide comprehensive methodology guide planning
