The utility of integrated models for informing policy has been criticised due to limited stakeholder engagement, model opaqueness, inadequate transparency in assumptions, lack flexibility and communication uncertainty that, together, lead a trust outputs. We address these criticisms by presenting the ERAMMP Integrated Modelling Platform (IMP), developed support design new "business-critical" policies focused on agriculture, land-use natural resource management. demonstrate how long-term (>5 years), iterative, two-way continuously evolving participatory process led co-creation IMP with government, building understanding complex model. This is supported customisable modelling framework that sufficiently flexible adapt changing needs near real-time. discuss attributes have facilitated cultural change within Welsh Government where being actively used explore, test iterate ideas prior final implementation.

In today’s intrinsically connected world, the Water–Food–Energy–Climate Nexus (WFEC Nexus) concept provides a starting point for informed and transparent decision-making based on trade-offs synergies between different sectors, including aquatic ecosystems, food security, energy production, climate neutrality. The WFEC approach is particularly applicable in regions requiring transboundary water management, such as Central Asia. Unfortunately, this region with unevenly distributed resources—consisting of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan—is characterized by data scarcity, which limits decision-making. However, open-source geodata becoming increasingly available. This paper aims to fill Asia’s gap providing an overview key data. We collected through integrated survey stakeholders researchers, stakeholder consultation, literature screening. Sixty unique datasets were identified, belonging one six thematic categories: (1) climate, (2) hydrology, (3) geography topography, (4) geomorphology, (5) ecology, (6) anthropogenic uses. For each dataset, succinct description, link online source, provided. also provide possible applications using presented datasets, demonstrating how they can assist conducting various studies linked Asia worldwide.

Recent years have seen Sustainable Development Goals mark the way towards a sustainable future and put growth of renewable energy sources in spotlight. This increase, led by PV wind technologies, will be necessary to meet penetration targets upcoming decades. However, these require vast amounts land, limited resource affecting other such as ecosystem protection or food production. article explores land–energy nexus through minimization system total cost that incorporates form suitability for land occupation. Three differentiated regimes appear under changing cost, with gap 70% between two extremes, very high costs unable objectives given their cap at around 35% mark. The intermediate approach presents best fulfillment overall, an increase 15 30% respect regimes. Existing development plans Spanish point this midway approach, sign commitment sustainability. study shows balanced consideration should prioritized, negative effects arise biased outweigh benefits.
