The complex aquatic system of dam reservoirs is known to trap emerging pollutants as microplastics (MPs) in sediments and water column. Considering the knowledge gaps this type environment, we investigated amount distribution MPs surface layer, well deep Siriu Reservoir Buzău River system, which located southern area Eastern Carpathians, Romania. There was a discrepancy between MP abundancy both sediment samples collected near reservoir (5.3 MPs/m3, 315.5 MPs/kg) at several kilometers downstream (1.4 132.5 MPs/kg). chronological accumulation lacustrine determined by analyzing 5 cm intervals 50 length core extracted from bed. By comparing concentration identified each interval with solid debit volumes registered last decade, found that flood events could be traced easily due abundant accumulation. Morphologically, particles were observed mainly fibers fragments. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-iR) investigations most polypropylene (28%), polyethylene (26%), terephthalate (19%).

In recent years, the escalating concerns surrounding pervasive presence of microplastics in environment had prompted a pressing need to evaluate their potential impacts on ecosystems and human health. This study investigates pathways implications microplastic intake through poultry product consumption by focusing environmental toxicity health risks. Through an integrated approach encompassing available experimental data literature synthesis, intricate mechanisms transfer from feed animal tissues are elucidated highlighting such contamination. An in-depth toxicological assessment evaluated risks associated with ingestion food emphasizing acute chronic effects well-being. emphasizes urgency implementing informed policy decisions sustainable practices mitigate posed contamination chain. The insights provided this serve as foundational basis for generating awareness effective measures aimed at safeguarding both integrity well-being threats pollution.

This study examines microplastics (MPs) for the first time in soil of Diamond City, Surat (Gujarat, India) terms their abundance, distribution, chemical composition, and ecological risk assessment. A stereomicroscope Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to measure physical properties MPs. The outcome showed omnipresence MPs city's soil, with an average abundance 103.2 ± 57.28 particles 100 g–1. Over 90% all made polyethylene (70.19%), polypropylene (17.53%), poly(ethylene terephthalate) (6.92%) polymers. white/transparent-colored having a size about 2–5 mm are predominantly available. principal component analysis (PCA) results indicate that discovered samples mostly represented by fragments fibers, which account 52.90% total variance data set. Additionally, current research, assessment pollution load index (PLI), polymer hazard (PHI), (ERI) studied. PLI values greater than 1 observed, indicating sampling sites polluted Based on type polymer, toxicity found sample, evaluation concluded there is moderate medium associated polluting city soil. greatest PHI value this 239.69 (risk category: medium), while lowest 8.69 low). greenness profile method was assessed using software-based analytical metric (AGREE) tool. developed approach partially green, as shown AGREE score 0.53. present investigations emphasize critical importance taking action metropolitan areas such mitigate MP improve waste management practices greener cleaner ecosystem future. These findings will inspire creation ecofriendly alternatives crucial reducing plastic consumption, safeguarding ecosystems, mitigating MPs' impact quality.
