Poor quality habitat profiles of artificial coastal structures for biodiversity growth compared to natural shore have led researchers utilize ecological engineering principles in creating enhancement models mimicking the environment help improve living conditions marine organisms. Extensive global trials been conducted with concrete formulations incorporating eco-friendly materials and recycled resources. However, eco-concrete production use is still lacking Malaysia. The technology involved casting, moulding, demoulding remains at experimental stage, unreported comparisons different moulding used casting geometrically complex models. This study evaluated techniques using locally produced eco-concrete. main aim this determine effect including plaster Paris, drilling wood, expanded polystyrene, rubber foam, vacuum forming on mould time, labour requirements fabrication factors. Vacuum highly preferred its quick less work, design uniformity, ability cast larger methods require improvements further experimentation ensure an easier process reusability long-term production.

In the marine environment, greening of grey infrastructure (GGI) is a rapidly growing field that attempts to encourage native life colonize artificial structures enhance biodiversity, thereby promoting ecosystem functioning and hence service provision. By designing multifunctional sea defences, breakwaters, port complexes off-shore renewable energy installations, these can yield myriad environmental benefits, in particular, addressing UN SDG 14: Life below water. Whilst GGI has shown great promise there evidence base, remain many criticisms knowledge gaps, some feel scope for be abused by developers facilitate harmful development. Abstract Enhancing the understanding and management of ecosystem services (ESs) supply demand under influence global change is crucial for sustaining human well‐being promoting sustainable development. However, comprehension changes in service dynamics face complex disturbances remains limited. This study focuses on four representative ESs northern Liaodong Bay, a typical estuary wetland, to elucidate alterations these comprehend impact mechanisms arising from reclamation activities. The findings reveal following key insights: between 1993 2020, water yield disparity became increasingly pronounced, while equilibrium carbon storage shifted surplus balance. In contrast, excess supply–demand food landscape esthetics remained relatively consistent. delves deeper into non‐linear relationship activities relationships, with each exhibiting distinct patterns. As intensity rises, ratio exhibits varying trends: demonstrate an inverted U‐shaped relationship, follows pattern, progressively decline. By identifying thresholds, different strategies should be applied areas exceeding falling below constraints guidance being necessary former latter, respectively. These advance our context human‐driven provide practical implications coastal areas.

The evolution and future trajectory of island shorelines, amidst global climate change, are increasing concern to governments, communities researchers worldwide. However, the field studies is often hampered by a lack data inconsistent methodologies, leading an inadequate understanding processes driving shoreline changes on islands within context change. This research aims bridge this gap analyzing in Southeast Asia, Indian Ocean Mediterranean Sea from 1990 2020 using remote sensing. Of over 13,000 examined, approximately 12% experienced significant shifts positions. total length these approaches 200,000 km, with 7.57% showing signs landward erosion 6.05% expanding seaward. Human activities, particularly reclamation land filling, were identified as primary drivers local transformations, while natural factors have comparatively minor impact. Moreover, ongoing rise sea levels exacerbating factor for coastal rather than cause. Drawing findings, we propose several adaptive measures response Taken together, provides comprehensive basis decision-making sustainable development territories.

Over past centuries, various attempts land reclamation partially or totally failed. However, even if an overall general decrease both total pond surface marsh extension has been observed 19th century, appeared entirely dry back only 1940s owing efficacy main most recent works.
