ABSTRACT
Large‐scale
coastal
reclamation
projects
threaten
small‐scale
fisheries
that
are
critical
to
food
security,
economic
stability,
and
cultural
heritage.

strategies

impacts
of

communities
in
Penang,
Malaysia.

Since
2000,
coastal
reclamation
projects
have
been
implemented
in
the
Guangxi
Beibu
Gulf
to
alleviate
shortage
of
land
resources.

a

expanding
urbanization
of
coastal
areas
has
led
to
increased
ocean
sprawl,
which
had
both
physical
and
chemical
adverse
effects
on
marine
ecosystems.

Objective

communities
