Abstract Chemical exposomes can now be comprehensively measured in human blood, but robust application of chemical exposomics cohort studies requires knowledge the longitudinal stability and interindividual variability exogenous molecular profiles. Here we applied to plasma 46 adults, each sampled six times over two years a multiomic wellness cohort. New chemicals were discovered, distinctive co-exposure patterns observed, intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) for 519 confidently annotated substances are reported support study design. Longitudinal exposome (mean ICC 0.30) was significantly lower than proteome, metabolome, lipidome or microbiome, must more frequently other profiles health studies. Mixed-effects models nevertheless revealed significant associations between testosterone perfluoroalkyl substances, time-trends low high exposures alike. Complex data structures visualized explored, demonstrating great potential precision research. Teaser The first cohort-level novel dynamic co-exposures blood relevance health.

Abstract Pesticides are transferred outside of cropland and can affect animals plants. Here we investigated the distribution 97 current use pesticides in soil vegetation as central exposure matrices insects. Sampling was conducted on 53 sites along eleven altitudinal transects Vinschgau valley (South Tyrol, Italy), Europe’s largest apple growing area. A total 27 (10 insecticides, 11 fungicides 6 herbicides) were detected, originating mostly from orchards. Residue numbers concentrations decreased with altitude distance to orchards, but even detected at highest sites. Predictive, detection-based mapping indicates that pesticide mixtures occur anywhere floor mountain peaks. This study demonstrates widespread contamination Alpine environments, creating contaminated landscapes. As residue have been remote alpine ecosystems conservation areas, call for a reduction prevent further loss biodiversity.

ABSTRACT Human activities increasingly disturb biodiversity and ecosystems far beyond their immediate areas. As human intensify on Earth's surface, these offsite disturbances threaten at regional global scales. Despite significance, ecological impacts remain poorly understood, often confused with related phenomena (e.g., edge effects) excluded from evaluation frameworks. This study clarified the definition of impacts, examined mechanisms (sources, paths, drivers), discussed intensification under change. We (1) clarify other phenomena, such as secondary, indirect, competition impacts; (2) identify key drivers, including mining, urbanization, road networks, agriculture, emerging technologies renewable energy infrastructure), explain how they contribute to (3) analyze by which spread, pollutants heavy metals microplastics) transported via air, soil, water, biological or anthropogenic vectors; (4) highlight challenges in identifying mitigating emphasizing environmental changes complicate predictions hinder effective solutions. Addressing requires improved spatial monitoring, predictive modeling, innovative conservation strategies. framework advances understanding Anthropocene, helping balance development supporting UN Biodiversity Goals.
