Mangroves in Zanzibar have a high value for biodiversity and scenic beauty. However, mangroves are susceptible to anthropogenic natural environmental disturbances. Although global mangrove monitoring systems exist, it is the practitioners focused on small areas who knowledgeable about area which they work. This study examined change cover Chwaka Bay Menai Bay, between 1973 2020, using Landsat satellite data. The transformed divergence (TD) index Jeffries–Matusita (J-M) distance were used calculate separability of land classes before classification. overall accuracies ranged 82.5 92.7% 85.5 94.5% Bay. kappa coefficients (ĸ) range 0.72–0.90, while producer’s user’s 72 100%. Bay’s annual decrease 2020 was 48.5 ha, compared Menai’s 6.8 ha. loss linked illegal timber/pole cutting, firewood collection, charcoal burning, unsustainable aquaculture, agricultural urban development. While much attention has been paid to the climatic controls of species' range limits, other factors such as dispersal limitation are also important. Temperature is an important control distribution coastal mangrove forests, and expansion at multiple poleward limits linked increasing temperatures. However, abundances have surprisingly insensitive climate change, indicating drivers limitation. For example, along west coast North America, found on Baja California mainland coasts Mexico, between 26°48ʹ 30°18ʹN. Non‐climatic may play role in setting these 1) abundance limit populations relatively variability 2) introduced population mangroves persisted hundreds kilometers north natural limits. We combined a species model with high‐resolution oceanographic transport identify roles controlling distributions. identified estuarine habitat that likely climatically suitable for current propagules from unlikely reach locations due prevailing ocean currents geomorphic create patchy large between‐patch distances. Thus, although change driving shifts regions around world, currently limiting several including America.

Abstract Mangrove forest ecosystems are important habitats for marine organisms and have great economic potential. This study aimed to explain the role of mangrove their potential using descriptive analysis. Data obtained from related studies then described further. is located in Majene Regency, West Sulawesi Province. species were observed situ March 2023 identified at Water Quality Laboratory, Faculty Marine Sciences Fisheries, Hasanuddin University. The results showed that there 14 types eight families. highest density vegetation was Rhizophora stylosa with a stand 2169 trees/ha smallest Scaevola taccada 40 trees/ha. determined directly by utilizing mangroves as food boards, while indirect value assessing function ecosystem environment, supporting existence mangroves. total IDR 100,489,205,186.- hope course, optimize carrying capacity its sustainable use, challenge form efforts restore damaged Recently, extent forests this area has been decreasing because conversion into human settlements, fish ponds uncontrolled exploitation. Mangrove forests are commonly mapped using spaceborne remote sensing data due to the challenges of field endeavors in such harsh environments. However, these methods usually require a substantial level manual processing for each image. Hence, conservation practitioners prioritize cloud computing platforms obtain accurate canopy classifications large extensions mangrove forests. The objective this study was analyze spatial distribution and rate change (area gain loss) red ( Rhizophora mangle ) other dominant species, mainly Avicennia germinans Laguncularia racemosa , between 2015 2020 throughout northwestern coast Mexico. Bimonthly Combined Recognition Index (CMRI) from all available Sentinel-2 were processed with Google Earth Engine platform. results indicated an extension 42865 ha 139602 species Gulf California Pacific Mexico 2020. experienced notable decline 1817 2020, largely attributed expansion aquaculture ponds destructive effects hurricanes. Considering two classes, overall classification accuracies 90% 92% maps, respectively. advantages method compared supervised traditional vegetation indices discussed, as disadvantages concerning resolution minimum detection area. work is national effort assist decision-making resource allocations blue carbon, rehabilitation, climate mitigation programs.
