Summary Background Early-life exposure increases health risks throughout an individual’s lifetime. Biological aging is influenced by early-life as a key process of disease development, but whether could accelerate biological and elevate late-life mortality morbidity remains unknown. Knowledge also limited on the potential moderating role healthy lifestyle. Methods We investigate associations three around birth, breastfeeding, maternal smoking birth weight, with 202 580 UK Biobank participants (54.9 ± 8.1 years old). was quantified KDM-BA, PhenoAge frailty. Moderate alcohol intake, no current smoking, diet, BMI <30 kg/m2 regular physical activity were considered lifestyles. Mortality data retrieved from records. Results Individual risk factors robustly associated accelerated aging. A one-unit increase in ‘early-life score’ integrating 0.060 (SE=0.0019) 0.036-unit (SE = 0.0027) z-scored KDM-BA acceleration acceleration, respectively, 22.3% higher odds (95% CI: 1.185–1.262) Increased chronological age lifestyles mitigate accelerations PhenoAge, respectively. Associations score mediated (proportions: 5.66–43.12%). significantly mediate impact most outcomes except anxiety, frailty not T2D. Conclusion capture stemming risks, be potentially targeted for longevity promotion.

Metal exposure has been reported to be associated with metabolic syndrome (MetS), however, the evidence remains inconclusive, particularly in elderly individuals. From May July 2016, serum levels of 16 metals were measured using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) 852 individuals (≥65 years) residing Wuhan, China. Biological detection and disease recognition based on individual surveys conducted during health check-ups. Spearman's rank correlation analysis was performed identify among metals. The data Ln-transformed fit a normal distribution for further analyses. Linear logistic regression applied explore associations between diseases. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) utilized examine dose-response relationships. Weighted Quantile Sum (WQS) score determine empirical weights each heavy metal context their combined effect prevalence MetS, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia 46.36 %, 68.90 24.65 21.60 respectively. Serum mixture positively MetS (OR = 1.92, 95 % CI: 1.30-2.82), hypertension 1.50, 1.01-2.23), diabetes 2.18, 1.48-3.22). In single models, we found that zinc an increased risk while rubidium had protective against MetS. Interestingly, different distinct effects specific diseases this study: lithium barium more likely influence blood pressure, selenium significant glucose. Lipids susceptible zinc, selenium, strontium. Platelet count (PLT) lymphocyte (LYM) mediated association hyperlipidemia, neutrophil (NEU) relationship Our findings offer valuable etiological insights into suggesting peripheral cells may play mediating role association.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) can impact various systems in the human body. However, their influence on biological aging remains unclear. This study aims to investigate association between PFASs exposure based data from 9756 participants China National Human Biomonitoring Program assesses potential moderating effect of Dietary Diversity Score (DDS). Biological age indexes were calculated using Klemera-Doubal method (KDM) Mahalanobis distance (MD). The DDS was consumption frequency 13 food groups over past 12 months. Most showed positive associations with KDM-age acceleration (KDM-AA), while no statistically significant observed MD. dose-response relationships KDM-AA MD steeper at low concentrations PFASs, then slope appeared flat higher concentrations. weighted quantile sum revealed mixture effects aging. PFHpS PFNA both major contributors potentially modify Our findings demonstrate that significantly associated accelerated aging, whereas mitigates these adverse effects, highlighting importance this preventive measure.

Background: Biological aging is considered a vital risk factor for age-related diseases, but its role in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) remains uncertain. This study aimed to evaluate the associations of biological with NAFLD and modified effect genetic susceptibility. Methods: included 329,040 participants from UK Biobank 6783 Dongfeng–Tongji Cohort China. We calculated chronological age-adjusted age as surrogate measure aging. Accelerated was defined that exceeded age. The association between assessed two cohorts. Polygenic scores (PRSs) were used determine susceptibility further analyze interaction Results: In Biobank, one year older increased prevalent by 6%. hazard ratios (HRs) 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) accelerated 1.35 (1.17, 1.56) 1.69 (1.54, 1.85) compared non-aging. Cohort, prospectively associated (accelerated aging: odds ratio (OR) CI) = 1.18 (1.03, 1.36)). high significantly higher low (HRs 1.65 (1.40, 1.95)). Analyses joint effects showed PRS had highest [2.66 (2.98, 3.57) 2.06 (2.36, 3.96)]. However, among regardless risk. There no significant Conclusions: independent Identifying populations use measures timely intervention may be beneficial prevention NAFLD.
