The accelerated urbanization process has led to the deterioration of originally fragile coastal ecosystem, whose slight changes in ecological environment may destroy original urban ecosystem. construction security pattern can effectively balance development areas and protection environment. This study proposes a new framework for constructing ESP areas: surfaces (ecological sources) - lines networks) points (pinch points, barrier points). sources were identified by morphospatial analysis landscape connectivity. Then, network constructed circuit theory. Take Qingdao, typical area with very environment, as subject study. results indicate that: (1) connectivity source sites 2017 2021 decreased significantly; (2) total length extracted corridors dramatically; (3) Qingdao was from perspective points. this paper provide scientific planning guidance conservation Qingdao. research proposed provides some reference areas.

Wetlands are often referred to as the Earth’s kidneys. However, wetlands worldwide still negatively affected due a lack of comprehensive understanding wetland landscape ecological health (WLEH). Based on this background, we analyzed and compared conceptual definitions, research progress, contents (in terms structural, functional, process health), methods (indicator species approach, integrity assessment, model evaluation including vigor–organization–resilience (VOR), pressure–state–response (PSR), feature–function–socioeconomic (EFFS) models, water–gas CO2 calculation) over past 20 years (2000–2022). Moreover, concept definition progress ecosystem (EH) (LEH) WLEH outlook were analyzed. In study, it was shown that could be considered LEH subset, while is specific EH perspective. These three concepts share common focus conditions, functions, services considering processes habitat characteristics. they differ in scope types ecosystems considered. This review may provide references for conservation restoration artificial restored landscapes.

Human activities have increased with urbanisation in the Erhai Lake Basin, considerably impacting its eco-environmental quality (EEQ). This study aims to reveal evolution and driving forces of EEQ using water benefit-based ecological index (WBEI) response human policy variations Basin from 1990 2020. Results show that (1) exhibited a pattern initial degradation, subsequent improvement, further degradation rebound 2020, areas poor fair levels mainly concentrated around high level relatively flat terrain; (2) were not optimistic 1990, 1995 2015, accounted for 43.41%, 47.01% 40.05% total area, respectively; (3) an overall improvement was observed 1995-2000, 2000-2005, 2005-2009 2015-2020, most significant covering area 823.95 km2 accounting 31.79% area. also confirmed changes primarily influenced by variations. Moreover, these results can provide scientific basis formulation planning sustainable development Basin.

The conservation of the ecosystem in Yellow River source region (YRSR) has become a crucial national strategy China, emphasizing need for evaluating integrity to identify priority areas (PCAs). Current research primarily employed limited number indicators or single dimension assess integrity, which may overlook comprehensive considerations required effective planning. To address this, multidimensional approach was adopted this study evaluate incorporating three dimensions: biological diversity, function, and stress components. MaxEnt Fragstats models were create an map Marxan used within YRSR. Our results showed that (1) index gradually declined from east west, consistent with spatial distribution biodiversity whereas component exhibits decreasing trend northeast southwest. (2) protected distributed Maduo, Ruoergai, Maqu, Maqin, Henan, Gande, Jiuzhi Counties. Furthermore, existing protection gaps enhance connectivity, it recommended incorporate additional 27,644 km2 southwest central YRSR into PCAs. Overall, offered practical recommendations In addition, method PCAs determination could provide reference government's growing nature affairs, will contribute sustainable development.

To promote sustainable development and improve human well-being, understanding how ecological quality influences ecosystem service value is essential. In this study, we quantified the in Fujian Province from 2000 to 2021 using Remote-Sensing Ecological Index (RSEI) Equivalent Factor Approach, respectively. This analysis aimed examine their spatial temporal dynamic evolution explore correlation between two. The results indicate that patterns of were similar, with both showing fluctuating upward trends over time. distributions high central northern low southeastern coastal areas. Pearson revealed reveals a significant positive RSEI (r = 0.673, p < 0.01), suggesting synergistic relationship. highest was observed supporting indicators (|r| 0.449–0.815, NDVI 0.815, 0.01). autocorrelation also showed positively correlated spatially, high–high agglomerations concentrated northwest Fujian, low–low area south Fujian.

Urban population explosion may increase ecological environment discomfort, thereby affecting negatively humans' mental and physical performance. Therefore, it is important to detect monitor vegetation predict its benefits. The complex composition of urban ground objects, such as steel roofs, plastic courts, building shadows, significantly interferes with detection monitoring. optimized hyperspectral image-based index (OHSVI) constructed in this study effectively solves problem. However, difficult accurately the benefits based on two-dimensional information extracted remote sensing images; related three-dimensional (3D) structure 3D pattern buildings. we first proposed (VEBI) reveal how acts surroundings. method was tested a playground, an academic building, parking space. results showed that extraction accuracy OHSVI exceeded 93%, which better than existing indices. Our findings suggest VEBI be efficient predicting combined lidar datasets.

Vegetation quality is crucial for maintaining ecological health, and remote sensing techniques offer precise assessments of vegetation’s environmental quality. Although existing indicators approaches provide extensive spatial coverage, challenges remain in effectively integrating diverse a comprehensive evaluation. This study introduces index (EQI) to assess vegetation on the Mongolian Plateau from 2001 2020 identify determinants EQI variations over space time. We developed using remotely sensed normalized difference (NDVI) data net primary productivity (NPP). Our analysis revealed distinct patterns, with high concentrated northern Mongolia eastern Inner Mongolia. Temporal fluctuations, indicative shifts, were primarily observed specific zones employed Geographically Optimal Zones-based Heterogeneity (GOZH) model analyze scales interactions influencing patterns. found that precipitation, an Omega value 0.770, was dominant factor affecting EQI, particularly at 40–50 km. The GOZH provided deeper insights into compared previous models, highlighting importance climatic variables their driving research enhanced our understanding dynamics established foundation ecosystem conservation informed management strategies, emphasizing critical role climate, especially shaping landscapes.
