Frequent occurrences of widespread winter haze over Northern India largely appear to originate from exceedingly high concentrations fine particulate matter anthropogenic emissions. However, the underlying mechanisms driving in are not well understood. This study employed a synergy satellite and reanalysis data 2006 2021 assess role hygroscopic growth aerosol optical depth eastern Indo-Gangetic Plain.
