The urgent need to accelerate permanent anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) abatement has led a growing interest in in-situ CO2 mineralisation globally. This review outlines the progress of Australia and New Zealand, while focusing on potential sink reservoirs for mineralisation, including magnesium-rich calcium-rich ultramafic mafic rocks. Ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) based on enhanced weathering of olivine (EWO) is a promising marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) technique. Previous research primarily focuses the toxicological effects potentially toxic metals (PTMs) released from olivine. In this Perspective, we explore overlooked impacts EWO environmental media in two scenarios: applied to beaches/shallow continental shelves and offshore dispersion by vessels. We analyze potential migration pathways iron PTMs (e.g., nickel chromium) after their release, interactions with manganese oxides sediments, causing secondary contamination. Additionally, propose mitigation strategies prevent PTM concentrations exceeding local quality standards, including use alkalization equipment control levels. Abstract To achieve Sustainable Development Goals, countries face the challenge of expanding economic activities while mitigating pollution. Using panel autoregressive distributed lag and non‐linear approach, this study investigates effects globalization, development, human industrialization, non‐renewable energy, population density on carbon emissions (CO 2 ) 64 countries. This validates Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis in upper‐ lower‐middle‐income However, low‐income exhibit a U ‐shaped relationship, high‐income have successfully mitigated CO to some extent. The analysis shows bidirectional causality between other variables, except for one‐way from globalization emissions. Manufacturing depends conventional energy sources, indicating need policies promote renewable sources. findings significant policy implications enhancing environmental sustainability achieving sustainable growth SDGs.
