The evaluation of soil quality in different altitudinal gradients, with vegetative and non-vegetative subareas, is crucial for proper functioning optimal crop growth, thus contributing to the sustainability agroecosystems. Although gradient significantly influences quality, ability predict this expressed through an index, soils without cover, still insufficiently explored. This study employed simple additive index (SQI) method evaluate Ecuador’s Jun micro-watershed, Tungurahua region. Three altitude categories (<2800, 2800–2900, >2900 masl) were investigated, 24 samples collected across both vegetated non-vegetated areas. indicators used included chemical biological parameters such as organic carbon (OC), earthworm density (WD), biomass (WB), matter (OM), pH, total nitrogen (TN). results revealed that areas gradients below 2800 masl, values higher compared other altitudes. In areas, a decrease was observed increased, indicating deterioration increasing altitude. These findings are significant providing quantitative assessment effects cover influence on quality.
