This research investigates suitable bio-carriers for the anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) process. study evaluates efficiency of anammox process by assessing nitrogen removal using five different bio-carriers: fine and coarse polyurethane (PU) sponges, a melamine sponge, Scotch Brite, loofah. Among tested carriers, reactor PU sponge media exhibited highest efficiency, achieving an 87% rate. high was attributed to substantial biomass containment, evidenced measured mixed liquor volatile suspended solids (MLVSS) amount 1414 mg/L. Subsequently, exhibiting selected further modification with polyvinyl alcohol–sodium alginate (PVA-SA) gel coating impact methanol inhibition on efficiency. An optimal condition determined, utilizing concentrations 8% PVA 1.8% SA media. The modified resistance inhibition, followed attached growth reactor. These findings suggest that there are benefits in field.
