Abstract Frequent wind erosion events in semi‐arid regions can lead to significant atmospheric microplastic (MP) emissions from croplands. We examine observed and predicted characteristics of MPs over cropland Northern China. Measurements showed that fibers were the predominant morphology, accounting for 69% 198 MPs. The MP abundance varied widely, averaging 0.088 # m −3 absence air masses passing through near‐surface croplands increasing significantly 0.26 when such present. predictions deposition flux indicated a spatial variation ranging less than 0.5 g km −2 day −1 north 15 south, corresponding an average approximately 13.3 . Our findings highlight dual role surface soil as both potential source sink MPs, underscoring need further research on regional dynamics wind‐driven their associated ecosystem health risks
