Two pilot-scale two-stage anoxic/oxic membrane bioreactors were operated at different dissolved oxygen (DO) levels to evaluate the nitrogen removal performances for treating landfill sludge dewatering liquid (SDL) via partial nitrification (PN) and denitrification. Compared low DO system (2.0 – 3.0 mg/L), high (5.0 6.0 mg/L) exhibited efficient PN denitrification, with nitrite accumulation efficiency (98.5%) (98.0%). The removed mainly (53.8%) simultaneous denitrification (45.1%). Kinetic inhibition tests verified optimal pH 5.0 mg/L 8.5. Enriched nitrifying (Nitrosomonas) denitrifying bacteria (Thiopseudomonas, Pseudomonas, Truepera) in environment accomplished process. Metagenomic analysis showed that enriched functional genes such as amoA/B/C, hao, nirK/S, while was unsuitable of ammonia wastewater.

The landfill is a cheap way of solid waste management in developing countries. majority landfills are non-sanitary and work as open garbage dumping sites pose threats to public environmental health. Therefore, an in-depth understanding the chemistry microbiology imperative develop right policies for management. In current study, we investigated three Indian using culture-based culture-independent molecular approaches. Our data indicate that nature varies from site terms chemistry, pollutants, pathogens. We also enriched cultivated methanogens optimized medium constructed two high-quality draft genomes microbiomes metagenome-assembled genome phylogenomic study one showed highest 93% sequence similarity with members Methanomassiliicoccaceae was always Acholoplasma Anaerohalosphaera lusitana . Despite all efforts, did not isolate it pure culture hypothesized cultivation some not-yet-cultured methanogen, presence other organisms plays important role, their syntrophic interaction must be discerned its successful future. Co-cultivation amino acid-degrading indicates co-culture can assist boosting growth methanogens. addition, our indicated leachate contains heavy load pollutants treatment before discharge or use irrigation biofertilizer.
