The presence of antibiotics in the environmental matrix has raised concerns regarding their risk to aquatic ecosystem and human health. Background: Urinary tract infections are a global health concern, with uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) accounting for 80–90% of cases. Given the rise in antimicrobial resistance, our aim was to elucidate genetic mechanisms behind low-level resistance ciprofloxacin and fosfomycin (LLCR LLFR) UPEC strains, using whole-genome sequencing (WGS) identify point mutations chromosomal plasmid genes. Methods: A cohort collected from kidney transplant recipients at Virgen del Rocío University Hospital, Spain. Minimum inhibitory concentrations were determined categorize strains into LLCR LLFR.
