The discharge of medical and domestic wastewater has resulted in increasing levels pharmaceutical pollutants water bodies. We combined dielectric barrier (DBD) technology with an Fe3⁺/sodium sulfite oxidation system to address the limitations associated traditional treatment technologies removing carbamazepine, exploring application efficacy mechanisms this approach carbamazepine degradation. Under optimized experimental conditions, our achieved a 97% degradation efficiency for within 4 min, significantly outperforming both DBD sodium standalone systems. Using response surface methodology optimize parameters, effects concentration, pH, Fe3⁺ concentration on were assessed. optimal system’s was 2.5 times higher than that individual Hydroxyl sulfate radicals contributed 65% 85%, respectively, degradation, while superoxide only 30%. study demonstrated effectively breaks down molecular structure carbamazepine. Eight primary intermediate products identified, and, as progressed, concentrations these intermediates gradually decreased, ultimately achieving mineralization rate exceeding 85%. This not provides effective technical solution rapidly treating recalcitrant organic but also offers new insights environmental protection sustainable use resources providing theoretical data future related research.

An in vivo model is necessary for toxicology. This review analyzed the uses of zebrafish (Danio rerio) toxicology based on bibliometrics. Totally 56,816 publications about from 2002 to 2023 were found Web Science Core Collection, with Toxicology as top 6 among all disciplines. Accordingly, bibliometric map reveals that "toxicity" has become a hot keyword. It further most common exposure types include acute, chronic, and combined exposure. The toxicological effects behavioral, intestinal, cardiovascular, hepatic, endocrine toxicity, neurotoxicity, immunotoxicity, genotoxicity, reproductive transgenerational toxicity. mechanisms oxidative stress, inflammation, autophagy, dysbiosis gut microbiota. toxicants commonly evaluated by using nanomaterials, arsenic, metals, bisphenol, dioxin. Overall, provide unique well-accepted investigate mechanisms. We also discussed possible ways address some limitations model, such combination human organoids avoid species differences.

Emerging micropollutants (EMPs)—which include endocrine disruptors, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, pesticides, and industrial chemicals—have recently received global attention due to their detection in the environment at trace levels being labeled as a first-priority environmental public health concern. EMPs are often identified by nature of toxicity, bioaccumulation potential, persistence, despite low concentrations. Their prevalence aquatic is closely linked difficulty removed using conventional water wastewater treatment techniques. Constructed wetlands (CWs) have drawn more interest this field recent years, largely because affordability, ease use upkeep, friendliness. However, only small number researchers examined compiled body knowledge regarding CWs remove disrupting chemicals (EDCs) other from various sources. Previously reviewed articles were not focused on comparative performance types hybrid systems EDCs wastewaters. Therefore, applications suitability different integrated for removing wide range emerging contaminated environments (water wastewater) reviewed. The findings review confirmed that integrating with novel technologies, such membrane bioreactors (MBR), electrochemical oxidation, microbial fuel cells (MFCs), can maximize specific advantages constructed wetland terms micropollutant removal.

Abstract The UHPLC-MS/MS analytical method was used to assess the occurrence of 52 pharmaceutical substances in surface water samples from Czech Republic and Slovakia. Of 29 analyzed, 28 contained at least one quantifiable analyte. This study represents a comprehensive comparative analysis pharmaceuticals waters these neighbouring countries reveals remarkable regional differences level contamination compounds, which depend mainly on population density, altitude flow. Median concentrations key analytes included 126.35 ng dm− 3 for caffeine, 50.81 diclofenac, 134.22 gabapentin, 177.57 iomeprol. findings contribute new knowledge transboundary environmental burden support efforts reduce potential health risks.

Abstract This study investigated the impact of levetiracetam on multi-biological parameters in juvenile Clarias gariepinus. Fish were exposed to 0.2, 0.6, and 0.8mg/L filtered dechlorinated water (control) for 10 days, followed by a recovery period 5 days. Blood samples collected periodically haematological serum biochemical profiling, fish sacrificed liver brain tissues' analysis. Skin colouration, mucus secretion, air-gulping increased with concentration duration exposure, while swimming rate opercular movement decreased. A significant (p < 0.05) dose- duration-dependent decrease was recorded red blood cells, packed cell volume, haemoglobin, white counts, opposite mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentrations. Compared control, there no differences values differential leukocyte except lymphocytes, which significantly lower highest at end exposure period. Aspartate alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase activities (p 0.05), protein glucose reduced compared control. The oxidative stress biomarkers, catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase decreased malondialdehyde acetylcholinesterase duration- concentration-dependent. No difference correction factor, hepatosomatic index returned normal after post 5-day withdrawal administration. indicated that is toxic fish.
