ConspectusGas sensors are used in various applications to sense toxic gases, mainly for enhanced safety. Resistive particularly popular owing their ability detect trace amounts of high stability, fast response times, and affordability. Semiconducting metal oxides commonly employed the fabrication resistive gas sensors. However, these often require working temperatures, bringing about increased energy consumption reduced selectivity. Furthermore, they do not have enough flexibility, performance is significantly decreased under bending, stretching, or twisting. To address challenges, alternative materials capable operating at lower temperatures with flexibility needed. Two-dimensional (2D) such as MXenes transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) offer surface area conductivity unique 2D structure, making them promising candidates realization Nevertheless, sensing pristine form typically weak unacceptable, terms response, selectivity, recovery time (

The use of low-cost environmental sensors has gained significant attention due to their affordability and potential intensify monitoring networks. These enable real-time various parameters, which can help identify pollution hotspots inform targeted mitigation strategies. Low-cost also facilitate citizen science projects, providing more localized granular data, making accessible communities. However, the accuracy reliability data generated by these be a concern, particularly without proper calibration. Calibration is challenging for variability in sensing materials, transducer designs, conditions. Therefore, standardized calibration protocols are necessary ensure sensor data. This review article addresses four critical questions related sensors. Firstly, it discusses why increasingly being used as an alternative high-cost In addition, self-calibration techniques how they outperform traditional techniques. Secondly, highlights importance selectivity sensitivity generating accurate Thirdly, examines impact functions on improved accuracies. Lastly, approaches that adopted improve sensors, such incorporating advanced analysis enhancing material design. reference-grade validation conclusion, have revolutionize monitoring, areas where methods not feasible. successful implementation. innovative enhance design

Indonesia’s commitment to the Paris Agreement and its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) is not adequately reflected in significant CO2 emissions from fossil-fuel-intensive energy sectors, despite enormous potential of renewable sources country. The ongoing coal regime has led electricity oversupply air pollution problems. Despite huge challenges for Indonesia, a just transition away fossil fuel crucial. This study aims explore ideal mix key emission reduction pathway Indonesia achieving using least-cost optimisation modelling tool OSeMOSYS. Six scenarios are modelled over period 2015–2050 including phase-out, NDC, Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), carbon tax implementation. results highlight that solar power, geothermal hydropower alternatives decommissioning. large-scale investment under NDC JETP scenarios, could be reduced by 55% 52%, respectively, 2050. Moreover, current rate will lead reduction. Three recommended policies include (1) accelerating CFPP retirement; (2) imposing an aggressive rate; (3) prioritising technologies.

Abstract This study investigates the potential of platinum (Pt) decorated single-layer WSe 2 (Pt-WSe ) monolayers as high-performance gas sensors for NO , CO SO and H using first-principles calculations. We quantify impact Pt placement (basal plane vs. vertical edge) on ’s electronic properties, focusing changes in bandgap (ΔE g ). decoration significantly alters bandgap, with edge sites (T V-WSe2 exhibiting a drastic reduction (0.062 eV) compared to pristine basal structures BH : 0.720 eV, T BM 1.237 eV). substantial ΔE suggests enhancement sensor response. Furthermore, displays strongest binding capacity all target gases due Pt-induced “spillover effect” that elongates adsorbed molecules. Specifically, exhibits adsorption energies − 0.5243 eV (NO ), 0.5777 (CO 0.8391 (SO 0.1261 (H indicating its enhanced sensitivity. Notably, shows highest conductivity modulation, suggesting exceptional sensing capabilities. These findings demonstrate decoration, particularly along edges, enhances performance. paves way Pt-WSe highly selective sensitive various applications, including environmental monitoring, leak detection, breath analysis.
