Molds pose a severe challenge to agriculture because they cause very large crop losses. For this reason, synthetic fungicides have been used for long time. Without adequate protection against pests and various pathogens, losses could be as high 30–40%. However, concerns mainly about the environmental impact of antifungals human health risk prompted search natural alternatives. But do remedies only advantages? This article reviews current state knowledge on use antifungal substances in protect seeds phytopathogens. The advantages disadvantages using both cereal grains were discussed, indicating specific examples mechanisms action. possibilities an integrated control approach, combining cultural, biological, chemical methods are described, constituting holistic strategy sustainable mold management grain industry.

Current crop management worldwide is shifting toward the use of environmentally friendly products. With this objective, we developed a new phytosanitary product with biostimulant properties based on encapsulation garlic extract at lower dose (<0.1%) in chitosan nanoparticles as seed nano-priming agent.
