Green nanomaterials are increasingly used to improve plant growth and phytochemical traits. This study employed Eucalyptus globulus leaf extract, a medicinal plant, as bio-reductant capping agent synthesize copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs), which were applied seed primers for Lactuca sativa (lettuce), an annual species prized its short germination time rich bioactive compounds. Characterization of CuO-NPs using FTIR, XRD, SEM, EDX confirmed their purity, crystalline structure, average particle size 74.66 nm. The at concentrations 0.01 mg/ml, 0.02 0.03 0.04 mg/ml. At the highest concentration (0.04 mg/ml), significant reductions in physical parameters observed, with length, height, width measuring 7.85 cm, 5.50 3.48 respectively, compared 13.70 11.52 11.18 cm control plants. Phytochemical analysis identified tannins, alkaloids, phytosterols, saponins, flavonoids, glycosides all methanolic extracts, while carotenoids absent higher (0.03 mg/ml mg/ml) due phytotoxicity. FTIR revealed prominent peak 858 cm⁻¹ indicating presence antioxidant-rich aromatic phenyl In conclusion, demonstrates that synthesized extract enhance constituents optimal but inhibit reduce key phytochemicals doses. Future research should optimize nanoparticle minimize phytotoxicity maximizing beneficial effects on

Micro-and-nano plastics (MNPs) are pervasive in terrestrial ecosystems and represent an increasing threat to plant health; however, the mechanisms underlying their phytotoxicity remain inadequately understood. MNPs can infiltrate plants through roots or leaves, causing a range of toxic effects, including inhibiting water nutrient uptake, reducing seed germination rates, impeding photosynthesis, resulting oxidative damage within system. The effects complex influenced by various factors size, shape, functional groups, concentration. Recent advancements omics technologies such as proteomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, microbiomics, coupled with emerging like 4D omics, phenomics, spatial single-cell offer unprecedented insight into physiological, molecular, cellular responses exposure. This literature review synthesizes current findings regarding MNPs-induced phytotoxicity, emphasizing alterations gene expression, protein synthesis, metabolic pathways, physiological disruptions revealed analyses. We summarize how interact structures, disrupt processes, induce stress, ultimately affecting growth productivity. Furthermore, we have identified critical knowledge gaps proposed future research directions, highlighting necessity for integrative studies elucidate pathways toxicity plants. In conclusion, this underscores potential approaches MNPs-phytotoxicity develop strategies mitigating environmental impact on health.

Engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) have aroused extensive interest in agricultural, industrial, and medical applications. The integration of ENMs into the agricultural systems aligns with principles United Nations' sustainable development goals (SDGs), circular economy (CE) bio-economy (BE) principles. This approach offers excellent opportunities to enhance productivity address global climate change challenges. revelation adverse effects (NMs) on various organisms ecosystems, however, has fueled debate 'Nano-paradox' leading emergence a new research domain 'Nanotoxicology'. shown different interactions biological environmental as compared their bulk counterparts. They bioaccumulate organisms, soils, other matrices, move through food chains reach higher trophic levels including humans ultimately resulting oxidative stress cellular damage. Understanding nano-bio interactions, mechanism gene- cytotoxicity, associated potential hazards, is therefore, essential mitigate toxicological outputs. review comprehensively examines cyto- genotoxicity mechanisms systems, covering aspects such entry, uptake, responses, dynamic environments long-term risk assessment (ERA). It also discusses methods, regulatory policies, strategies for toxicity management/mitigation future directions nanotechnology, all within context SDGs, CE, promoting resource efficiency sustainability. Navigating nano-paradox involves balancing benefits concerns about nanotoxicity. Prioritizing thorough above facets can ensure sustainability safety, enabling responsible harnessing nanotechnology's transformative applications mitigating enhancing productivity.
