The interaction between microplastics (MPs) and pollutants is crucial for assessing the environmental risk of MPs. It necessary to pay attention adsorption/desorption behavior antibiotics on MPs due their potential role in antibiotic resistance. When MPs-loaded are ingested by organisms, they enter gastrointestinal tract undergo desorption, leading corresponding toxic effects. Existing literature primarily focuses adsorption behavior, while there a lack systematic generalizations desorption or combined effects organisms. Therefore, this article provides review mechanisms, biological tract. Desorption suggests that characteristics (aging hydrophobicity) components fluid (digestive enzyme species pH) can also have effect desorption. Moreover, summarizes induced MPs-antibiotics, demonstrating either enhance reduce plants, microorganisms, aquatic animals. Since methodological uniformity relevance natural environment main shortcomings existing literature, future research should focus actual water given region studying at gene, protein, metabolic levels. This direction expected provide valuable references insights evaluating antibiotics.

Our environment, encompassing air, water, and soil, is replete with a multitude of chemical substances. These chemicals, often derived from everyday manufactured products, such as agrochemicals, pharmaceutical drugs, personal care play significant role in human animal welfare across various sectors. substances can exist individually or mixtures, combining other xenobiotic compounds due to environmental interactions reactions. Chemicals within these mixtures exert toxicological effects on nontarget organisms, either individual combination. While there wealth scientific literature exploring the studies addressing combined toxic are comparatively scarce. In recent years, however, study mixture toxicity – effect two more chemicals has gained momentum. Researchers striving identify occurrence their mechanisms, degree they impose organisms by analyzing molecular mechanisms responses. This chapter introduces comprehensive, innovative methodology for risk assessment management which aims enhance our understanding mixed exposure aquatic animals. The insights gleaned this chapter, conjunction those others, aid predicting levels based concentrations periods, whether acute chronic. Moreover, lays groundwork establishing additional steps structure guidelines different both target organisms. It delves into how between alter vertebrates invertebrates, providing crucial ecological hazards posed chemicals. essence, complexity environment necessitates deeper compound pollution. underscores importance understanding, paving way future research that aligns closely real-world conditions.

Chemicals have undoubtedly improved our quality of life, but the resulting environmental pollution poses potential risks to both environment and health. In natural environments, it is common for different types pollutants with distinct properties coexist, leading contamination by chemical mixtures. Surprisingly, origin, formation mechanism, impact on quality, ecosystem health mixtures been largely overlooked in previous studies. Therefore, this chapter aims comprehensively investigate sources, pathways, mechanisms involved containing heavy metals (HMs) pesticides soil as well those comprising HMs, microplastics (MPs), nanoparticles various media. Thus, can provide clues studying toxicity predicting their joint toxicity.
