Plastic and plasticizer pollution has been a concern worldwide over the past decade. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is most produced detected in coastal marine ecosystems. This study aimed to assess toxicity of acute exposure (24, 48, 72, 96 h) DEHP concentrations (0.045–6.00 mg·L−1) on estuarine tropical species from distinct trophic levels. The lethality sublethal responses were assessed two microorganisms three invertebrates, independently. microorganisms—the microalga Tetraselmis sp. microbial consortium MP001—showed high tolerance density-rising tendency during DEHP. Among mortality brine shrimp Artemia amphipod Apohyale media rose with increasing concentrations. However, A. was more sensitive across time since its reached 100% almost all 72 h. dark false mussel Mytilopsis leucophaeata tolerant invertebrate: no significant (≤20%) observed exclusively h at intermediate–high M. presented that seem be good endpoints for ecotoxicological assays. These results reinforce evidence contamination risks ecosystems, as well suggest candidate biodegradation.
