Microplastics (MPs), emerging as significant pollutants, have been consistently detected in aquatic environments, with the Yangtze River experiencing a particularly severe level of microplastic pollution, exceeding all other watersheds China. Polypropylene (PP), plastic most abundantly found middle and lower reaches Basin, has less comprehensive research results into its toxic effects. Consequently, present investigation employed zebrafish model organism to delve toxicological impacts polypropylene microplastics (PP-MPs) diameter 5 μm across varying concentrations (300 mg/L 600 mg/L). Using histopathological, microbiota profiling, transcriptomic approaches, we systematically evaluated impact PP-MPs exposure on intestine liver zebrafish. Histopathological analysis revealed that resulted thinner intestinal walls, damaged mucosa, hepatic cellular damage. Intestinal profiling demonstrated that, richness, uniformity, diversity, homogeneity gut microbes significantly increased after at high concentration. These alterations were accompanied by shifts relative abundance associated pathologies, suggesting profound microbial community structure. Concurrently, transcriptome RT-qPCR indicated downregulation pathways genes cell proliferation regulation DNA damage repair mechanisms contributed damage, ultimately exerting adverse effects liver. Correlation between profiles further highlighted associations downregulated pathways. Collectively, these provide novel insights subacute organisms highlight need for ecological health risks pollution.

ABSTRACT Berries are widely regarded as beneficial foods, rich in polyphenols, flavonoids, and other bioactive compounds that could positively influence human health. Although the gut microbiota plays a crucial role metabolism physiology of humans, interaction between berries activity remains unclear. This review systematically summarizes antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, microbiota‐regulating effects various berries. It focuses on impact several related metabolic diseases addition to adverse outcomes associated with environmental exposures from perspective modulation microbiota. Overall, may actively modulate microbiota, influencing composition especially production metabolites, thereby conferring health effects. aims provide comprehensive understanding via interactions offering insights into potential application maintaining
