Heavy metal contamination in soils poses a significant environmental threat to human health. This study examines the effects of chiral herbicide napropamide (NAP) on Arabidopsis thaliana, focusing growth metrics and cadmium (Cd) accumulation. R-NAP does not adversely affect plant compared control, whereas S-NAP significantly reduces root length fresh weight. Notably, markedly increases Cd accumulation shoots, exceeding levels observed control S-NAP. increase coincides with reduced photosynthetic efficiency. Noninvasive electrode techniques reveal higher net absorption flux mature zone under than S-NAP, although similar control. Transcriptomic analysis highlights stereoisomer differences transporters, predominantly treatment. SEM molecular docking simulations support that primarily upregulates transporters such as HMA4. The results suggest careful management herbicides like contaminated fields avoid excessive heavy buildup crops.
