The contamination of agricultural soils by microplastics (MPs) has significant implications for herbicide efficacy and soil health. This study investigates the effects MPs on critical processes such as sorption, desorption, degradation herbicides, highlighting their influence these compounds’ mobility, persistence, bioavailability. interact with herbicides through sorption mechanisms, often reducing availability compounds weed control retaining them surfaces. not only limits immediate but also alters desorption process, resulting in a prolonged release into environment. The occurrence of contaminants emerging concern (CECs) in several environmental compartments has raised significant given the extensive array compounds and their consistent detection across various matrices. Monitoring all potentially harmful identifying sources is nearly impossible. However, providing data on crucial lays groundwork for decision makers to craft mitigation strategies toward a more sustainable water policy. Hence, primary aim this study was conduct an evaluation CECs environment. main novelty relies understanding specific pathway three different aquatic compartments. For that, combined systematic review systemic analysis performed. Initially, five most common types found ecosystems (groundwater surface water) wastewater were considered. each group CECs, identified. A bibliographic portfolio generated through application review. Finally, conducted. All classes studied identified evaluated. Except pesticides, degree contamination by followed sequence based compartment (i.e., WW–SW–GW).

The widespread use of synthetic polymers since the mid-twentieth century has led to significant environmental pollution from microplastics (MPs). These MPs, which persist in ecosystems, can interact with various pollutants, including pesticides such as tebuconazole (TEB). subject paper investigates sorption behaviour TEB on different types MPs (polystyrene, polypropylene, and polyamide-6), focusing kinetics isotherms these interactions. role metal cations (Al, Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn) influencing is also investigated. Our findings highlight critical flaws that invalidate original article, mainly interpretation physicochemical properties, pKa speciation, importance considering ion complexation risk assessment. models used by authors, although widely used, are questioned for their accuracy representing real-world scenarios.
