Microplastic (MP) contamination affects all environmental media, even in remote, unpopulated regions of the globe. Many studies have addressed this issue under various aspects; however, actual and definitive evidence that MPs are a cause human health risk conditions has not been provided. MP decomposition generates smaller nanoplastics (NPs) with different properties, closer to engineered nanoparticles than MP. Their detection is more complex laborious MP’s, and, as such, their fate effects still poorly studied. Advanced technologies remove MP/NPs from supply water being investigated, but current indicates conventional drinking treatment facilities efficiently major part MPs, at least far sizes greater 20 µm. Notwithstanding recent developments MP/NP classification techniques, moment, very few specifically address NPs, which, therefore, deserve targeted investigation. This paper addresses NPs water, examining literature on presence state-of-the-art assessment toxicology. The also critically overviews for removal discusses present knowledge gap possible approaches widespread issue.

Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a widely used plastic that significantly contributes to environmental pollution, and its biodegradation remains challenging. This study investigates the dynamics of bacterial communities in consortia enriched with LDPE as sole carbon source. The potential for microbial diversity adapt polluted environments underscores role bioremediation. Community analysis identified Actinobacteria Proteobacteria key contributors degradation, dominant genera including Mycobacterium, Cupriavidus, Gordonia, Ochrobactrum, Nocardia, Agromyces, Amycolatopsis, Cellulosimicrobium. untreated pretreated films was also examined, revealing UV pretreatment enhances weight losses 2.22–5.17% after 120 days. In contrast, sunlight thermal treatments resulted lower 1.67–4.56% 1.42–3.22%, respectively, while showed only 1.32–2.80% loss. These findings underscore importance facilitating biodegradation. Furthermore, LDPE-degrading were isolated, players co-occurrence networks, suggesting promising candidates developing sustainable waste management solutions. Moreover, this first reveal degradation abilities several genera, Mesorhizobium, Olivibacter, Aquamicrobium, Pseudaminobacter, others.

With the rapid growth of global plastic production, degradation microplastics (MPs) has received widespread attention, and search for efficient biodegradation pathways become a hot topic. The aim this study was to screen mangrove sediment surface water bacteria capable degrading polyethylene (PE) polypropylene (PP) MPs. In study, two strains PE-degrading PP-degrading candidate were obtained from mangrove, named
