Abstract The quantification of soil strength parameters is a crucial prerequisite for constructing physical models related to hydro‐geophysical processes. However, due ignoring spatial variability at different scales, traditional parameter assignment strategies, such as assigning values depending on land use classification or other systems, well those extrapolation and interpolation methods, are insufficient process modelling. This work addressed this deficiency by proposing method derive stochastic under hybrid machine learning (ML) models, taking into account the grain‐size distribution (GSD) with scaling invariance. nonlinear connection between GSD (derived from curves, μ D c ), moisture content, shear was fitted suggested ML model. An analysis case study revealed that: (i) Multi‐layer Perceptron optimized African Vulture Optimization Algorithm (AVOA) algorithm performs best can estimate mass vegetated slopes; (ii) all selected showed significant improvements in predictive performance after optimization AVOA, R 2 scores increasing 24.72% Support Vector Regressor, 34.04% eXtreme Gradient Boosting, 35.53% Perceptron; (iii) cohesion has an relationship , while internal friction angle negative correlation . proposed methodology give predictions parameters, providing support modelling surface dynamics.

Members of the genus Batrachuperus are endemic to China and include seven described species, five which nationally protected salamanders in China. The Gongga Mountain National Nature Reserve (GGMNNR) is rich animal plant resources, including species. On 5 September 2022, GGMNNR experienced Luding earthquake, this provided an opportunity quantify impact a catastrophic events on area potentially suitable habitat for rare species GGMNNR. main objective study was evaluate earthquake by combining Maxent modeling, remote sensing image processing, GIS methods. results showed that precipitation, temperature, slope were most important variables affecting distribution Currently, habitats accounted 40.67% (1664.10 km2) studied (4091.10 km2), these areas mainly distributed northern, western, southern portions destruction caused 4.87% (199.34 area, only 1.97% (32.78 destroyed. These indicated although affected GGMNNR, its effect small. findings enhance our understanding biodiversity

Shallow slope instability poses a significant ecological threat, often leading to severe environmental degradation. While vegetation, particularly woody plants, is commonly employed in stabilization, herbaceous vegetation offers distinct and underexplored advantages. This paper reviews the role of plants enhancing stability, analyzing their mechanical mechanisms. Through an extensive review literature, this challenges prevailing view that superior for finding can be equally or more effective under certain conditions. The key findings include identification specific root parameters species contribute soil reinforcement erosion control. highlights need further research on optimizing plant selection management practices maximize stabilization effects. These insights have practical implications engineering, offering guidance integrating into sustainable land strategies.

Urbanization and infrastructure projects generate huge amount of construction demolition waste (CDW), posing significant challenges for the environment human health. In order to reduce safety risks caused by CDW landfills, this study was amid utilize plant roots develop a root-CDW-soil system strengthening enhancing slope stability landfills. A series experimental analyses were conducted, focusing on shear tests root-soil composites under various moisture conditions root content ratios. The results indicate that inclusion ryegrass plays critical role in significantly strength soil, soil samples reinforced with 0.6 g exhibited increase up 35% compared unreinforced samples. treated evaluated finite element simulations different rainfall conditions. factor (FoS) slopes increased from 1.18 1.59 after five days heavy (480 mm/d), highlighting improvement provided systems. These findings suggest offers sustainable solution management, reducing associated extreme weather
