Seawater intrusion into Greece’s coastal aquifers is a prevalent issue. The Greek coastline extends for 15,147 km. Once groundwater sources become contaminated, remediation methods are often challenging, costly, and protracted. This study focuses on three aquifer systems in the Peloponnese region. Initially, main ions cations were determined these aquifers. Hydrochemical analyses revealed elevated concentrations of Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+, SO42−, Cl−, indicating significant impact from seawater intrusion. evaluates vulnerability to this Utilizing Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software (ArcGISPro), maps created illustrate each parameter GALDIT method. acronym encapsulates elements influencing Each analyzed as follows: Groundwater occurrence (including following types: unconfined, confined, leaky confined), Aquifer hydraulic conductivity, depth Level above sea, Distance shore (inland distance perpendicular shoreline), Impact existing status sea water area, Thickness aquifer. final map that emerged shows their Peloponnese. Notably, Larissos exhibits lower contrast incursion other two systems.

The intrusion of seawater in coastal aquifers Greece is a particularly widespread phenomenon. coastline has length 15,147 km. Once groundwater resources are contaminated, remediation strategies difficult, costly and time consuming. In this paper three aquifer systems Peloponnese studied. Initially the main ions cations were calculated for aquifers. According to results from hydrochemical analyzes Na+,Mg2+, Ca2+, SO4-2, Cl- have high values affected by into It estimates vulnerability seawater. Using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software, maps prepared presentation each parameter GALDIT method. factors that affect basically presented 6 letters acronym GALDIT. analysis as follows: Groundwater occurrence (aquifer type: unconfined, confined, leaky confined), Aquifer hydraulic conductivity, depth Level above sea, Distance shore (inland distance perpendicular shoreline), Impact existing status sea water area Thickness aquifer. final map emerged study shows Peloponnese. show system Larissos presents lower compared other two systems. This because flysch northern part acts barrier penetration
