Nitrous oxide (N2O), a major greenhouse gas, has the potential to be emitted from waste landfills. Previous studies have demonstrated propensity of landfilling facilities emit significant quantities N2O, fact underscored by IPCC Guidelines, which emphasize importance researching this phenomenon. However, due absence established international guidelines for quantifying N2O emissions landfills, many countries, including United States, excluded gas inventories. Therefore, study aims estimate landfills in country with landfill volume. In study, U.S. over an 11-year period (2010–2020) are estimated using emission estimation formula provided CDM AM0083 and factors 2006 Guidelines. Additionally, were calculated spatially each state individual facility. As result, impact integrating into national inventory was assessed. The average annual States 3,214,693 ton-CO2-equivalent/year, overall decreasing trend. 2020, Indiana, Michigan, Oregon exhibited high per capita, while Virgin Islands, Connecticut, Massachusetts lower emissions. When incorporated inventory, represent 10.41% total sector Although declining alongside reduced quantity remains should factored calculations scenarios next CMIP6. Further research investigating coefficients across different regions types is necessary.
