Abstract Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a critical global public health threat, exacerbated by the presence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria in environmental matrices, particularly Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). This study investigated potential Lawsonia inermis (Henna) extracts to inhibit MDR surface water, sewage, abattoir leachate. Using cold maceration extraction method, methanol aqueous as solvent, antibacterial activity Henna leaf seed was assessed against eight isolates obtained from The results showed exceptional antimicrobial activity, especially with demonstrating 100% inhibition bacteria, followed (93.7%). minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) bactericidal (MBC) values confirmed efficacy extracts. All displayed profound (AI) S. enterica AGS2 strain. Citrobacter freundii ADAI most susceptible isolate. Our findings suggest that could serve viable, eco-friendly, cost-effective solution for reducing LMICs. highlights plant-based products combating AMR matrices promoting health. have significant implications development sustainable leachate water treatment strategies control LMICs through solutions.

As a member of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-baumannii complex, pittii has been an emerging concern in nosocomial infection due to its increasing prevalence and multidrug resistance (MDR). However, population structure remains broadly unknown, hampering efficient tracing transmission evolution. In this study, we developed distributed core genome multilocus sequence typing (dcgMLST) for A. based on 750 genomes employed it map the genetic landscape evolution pittii. The results demonstrated that two hierarchical clustering (HC) levels effectively correspond diversity from species (HC1100) natural populations (HC450), as well predominant lineage, HC1100_4, accounts 33.9% strains. Subsequent analysis revealed specific gene gain loss events within HC1100_4 are linked adaptations environmental stress. Moreover, identified cluster multidrug-resistant plasmids PT_712 responsible dissemination blaNDM-1 genes genus Acinetobacter. This study provides framework characterizing diversity, evolutionary dynamics, molecular distribution, pittii, which potential improve control strategies public health policy.
