Tryptophan-like fluorescence (TLF) is a key indicator of water contamination, particularly microbial origin and biodegradable organic compounds. This study introduces an Internet Things (IoT)-enabled portable device (IoT-TLF-PD) for real-time monitoring quality biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5). The was tested using surface (S1), secondary wastewater (S2), final effluents (S3). Results showed significant correlations between TLF intensity, Escherichia coli (E. coli) counts, BOD5, with R2 values 0.77 0.61 0.76 (S3) 0.60 (S2) to 0.68 E. coli. Considering various samples, strong correlation found BOD5 intensity normalized by total carbon (TOC) concentration (TLF intensity/TOC). value 0.92, it 0.77. indicates the necessity accounting matter when interpreting in assessments. confirmed potential IoT-TLF-PD serve as cost-effective, assessing quality, especially detecting contamination. technology offers valuable tool environmental management.
