Microplastics (MPs) in drinking water (DW) raise concerns about their potential impacts on health. Several substances, such as plasticizers and stabilizers, can be leached from plastic polymers following abiotic biotic denaturation processes. Furthermore, the purification treatment of DW, chlorination process, significantly increases release chemical components that are part polymer composition. Recently, several studies reported MPs adsorb environmental xenobiotics, organic molecules heavy metals, thanks to surface characteristics acquired environment which they dispersed. This study aims evaluate ability different sizes (5 µm 1 µm) oxidized by UVB exposure water-dispersed pollutants benzo-a-pyrene (BaP). We used Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy Ζ-potential measurements characterize particles after gas chromatography-mass spectrometry determine adsorptive capacity MPs.
