Abstract
Food
packaging
(FP)
is
essential
for
preserving
food
quality,
safety,
and
extending
shelf‐life.
However,
growing
concerns
about
the
environmental
health
impacts
of
conventional
materials,
particularly
per‐
polyfluoroalkyl
substances
(PFAS)
microplastics,
are
driving
a
major
transformation
in
FP
design.
PFAS,
synthetic
compounds
with
dual
hydro‐
lipophobicity,
have
been
widely
employed
materials
(FPMs)
to
impart
desirable
water
grease
repellency.
PFAS
bioaccumulate
human
body
linked
multiple
effects,
including
immune
system
dysfunction,
cancer,
developmental
problems.
The
detection
microplastics
various
FPMs
has
raised
significant
regarding
their
potential
migration
into
subsequent
ingestion.
This
comprehensive
review
examines
current
landscape
FPMs,
functions,
physicochemical
properties
put
perspective
why
there
widespread
use
FPMs.

Given
that
a

the
kitchen

regarding

sources
contributing
to
plates,
this
review
investigates
various
processes,
utensils
(excluding
single-use
items
foodstuffs)

better
understanding

microplastic

home
kitchen.

narrative
literature
using

kitchenware
kitchen-affiliated

selection

tools,
storage,
