In order to investigate the enhancement mechanism of modified three-dimensional elastic filler (MTEF) on nitrogen removal performance integrated fixed-film activated sludge (IFAS) process, and clarify interactions between competition synergy biofilm in IFAS system, an reactor (T2) filled with MTEF was employed for study, while a sequencing batch process (SBR) (T1) utilized comparison. SBR reactors were operated over extended period at ambient temperature assess pollutant addition competitive dynamics under varying influent water qualities (C/N, N/P, organic loading), analyze synergistic relationship microbial level using high-throughput technology. The results demonstrate that throughout entire operational phase, T2 exhibited superior efficiency. Compared T1, achieved average increase rates COD, ammonia nitrogen, total by 13.07%, 12.26%, 28.96%, respectively. findings indicate nitrification volumetric load system is significantly higher than pure suggesting possesses enhanced capabilities. Furthermore, when dealing wastewater characterized low C/N ratios high phosphorus pollution, or substantial loads, holds edge exhibits improved stability. High-throughput data reveal community structures can influence each other, thereby enabling effectively enrich denitrification-related functional populations.
