Abstract Drainage sludge is abundant with corrosive microbes which can contribute to soil corrosion of buried pipelines. In this work, the microbiologically influenced (MIC) a drainage biofilm against X65 carbon steel was confirmed by significant uniform (0.03 mm/a rate) and more severe pitting (18% greater) on coupons nutrient enrichment without venting at 37 ℃ compared aerobic room temperature. A new biofilm/MIC test kit employed assess biofilm, it determined be mildly after incubating 5 mL temperature for 7 d in 10 vial. Tetrakis-hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate (THPS), green biocide also tested its mitigation working electrode. The successfully monitored biofilm’s sanitization efficacy. It found that 100 ppm THPS effective inhibiting growth, 400 treating pre-established achieving 10% rate reduction. Thus, sensitive detecting MIC used as convenient tool assessing corrosivity
